Right as you walk in, there's a kiosk. It's set up from the start to separate dine-in and takeout orders, which makes it easy to tell apart.

The kiosk menu is split into categories: Hyeonseoni Set, à la carte, drinks & alcohol, and uncooked tteokbokki.

Next to the kiosk stands a commercial fridge stocked with soft drinks like cola and cider, along with cups. At the bottom you can see pickled radish, split into portions for takeout and for dine-in.

Beside the fridge is the kitchen, the counter register, and the pickup station. Between the counter and kitchen, on a wooden wall, is a sign listing the origins of Hyeonseonine's ingredients.

On the wooden wall by the pickup station hangs a board with the Hyeonseonine logo and the mascot Hyeonseoni.

Leave a review, get one free menu item

🎁 On one side of the store, there was signage for a review event offering rice cake fritters and a sesame-mayo rice ball. Leave a review on any one of Naver, Google, or Daum, and you get a free menu item. According to the signage, you just show your posted review to staff on-site to take part.

After enjoying the tteokbokki, you can quickly leave a review and get an extra menu item — worth keeping in mind if you visit.

How is the menu this big? Hyeonseonine's start as a 2004 street cart

🌶️ Hyeonseonine offers everything from basic bunsik — tteokbokki ₩6,000, sundae ₩6,500, assorted fritters ₩6,000 — up to hearty set menus. You can add extra sarui (toppings/noodles) too, so you can enjoy it your way!

📸 On the store wall, photos capture Hyeonseonine's history starting from a street cart in 2004. It started in Yongsan and has been loved for a long time — it was fun seeing old photos of the tteokbokki shop. Above is a framed display on the wall with the menu board and the Hyeonseonine story.

On the other side is a self-service bar. On the shelf, pickled radish with tongs, plates, chopsticks, and spoons are set out, along with a water dispenser and paper cups; disposable aprons hang in front of the shelf.

What comes in the 23,000 won Hyeonseoni Set

Now, after ordering, I sat down at a table.

🍽️ Hyeonseoni Set, ₩23,000. A hearty set that lets you enjoy Hyeonseonine's signature bunsik all at once — tteokbokki, sundae, assorted fritters, and mini gimbap. Spicy tteokbokki alongside chewy sundae and crispy fritters, plus bite-sized mini gimbap — the combination was really good. Dipping the fritters and gimbap into the tteokbokki sauce was especially fun too. If you want to sample a bit of everything, the Hyeonseoni Set is exactly the right pick.

How spicy is Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki?

🌶️ Glossy red sauce with big chunks of rice cake loaded in generously. The chewy rice cakes soaked up the sweet-spicy sauce deeply — a flavor that kept pulling my chopsticks back.

The warm broth served alongside

🍲 A warm broth came along too, good for calming the spiciness of the tteokbokki in between bites. It wasn't strong-tasting and was clean, so it paired well with the bunsik dishes.

Crispy assorted fritters

🍤 A single plate held several types of fritters, including sweet potato and gimmari (seaweed roll fritter). Crispy on their own, but dipped deep into the tteokbokki broth — that's the honey combo, of course!

A generous plate of sundae and mini gimbap

🐷 Not just sundae, but liver and intestines too came out in a generous portion. Alternating between the chewy sundae and the mild organ meat went well with the tteokbokki too.

🍙 The mini gimbap, topped generously with sesame seeds, had a well-packed filling too. Bite-sized and easy to eat, and even better dipped in the spicy tteokbokki sauce.

✨ Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch was a place where you could enjoy the full lineup of classic bunsik — spicy tteokbokki, sundae, fritters, and mini gimbap — all at once. The Hyeonseoni Set in particular was hearty, letting you taste a bit of everything, and being inside IFC Mall made it convenient for a shopping trip or an office lunch.
