Korean BBQ pub near Euljiro 3-ga: scallion wraps, Eulji Baektan

In short

Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is a white-charcoal bone grill pub on the main road right in front of Euljiro 3-ga Station (Line 2) in Jung-gu, Seoul. Two of us ordered the small bone grill (39,000 won) at spice level 1 with rice balls and a glass of jjaebaegi, and the best bite was wrapping the meat off the bone in the grilled scallions served alongside. Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui covers both dinner and drinks in one place, so a return visit is already planned.

Where to eat in Euljiro? Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui, steps from Euljiro 3-ga Station

Main image of Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui in Euljiro 3-ga

There are honestly tons of places in Euljiro, but when it comes time to actually pick a spot to meet, you're stuck thinking, where do I go? I feel like I search forever every time, but Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is one of those places I walked out of thinking, I need to come back here next time I'm in Euljiro. Adding a little personal note — I'm planning to come back with a friend 😀

Table setting with grilled bones and grilled scallions at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui

The grilled bones were delicious, and I loved the whole combo from the grilled scallions to the rice balls, plus the owner was friendly so I got to eat comfortably. Best of all, it's right on the main road in front of Euljiro 3-ga Station, so explaining the location to a group is easy. Whether it's a wedding invitation gathering with people coming from different directions, a dinner meetup, or picking a spot for a Euljiro work dinner, there's a lot less to worry about location-wise.

Inside Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui: mood and seating on two floors

You can see the open kitchen on one side, so you get to watch the food being made too.

Dark-toned tables with yellow lighting in the interior

From the outside it looks like an old Euljiro building, but once you step in it's cozy. The dark-toned tables with soft yellow lighting give it real atmosphere.

View of seating that can accommodate a large group

The place is split between the 1st and 2nd floors with quite a lot of seating, so it looked good for anything from a casual two-person meal to a bigger group gathering. Having an indoor restroom was also convenient.

Interior retaining the Euljiro neighborhood atmosphere

It keeps that distinct Euljiro atmosphere without feeling cramped or uncomfortable, so I thought it'd also work well for a wedding invitation gathering or a small get-together.

Menu and prices: small bone grill at 39,000 won

Menu board showing prices for grilled bones and grilled cuttlefish

The main dish at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is the grilled bone-meat cooked over 1,300°C white charcoal, starting at ₩39,000 for the small size. There's also grilled cuttlefish at ₩39,000, bone potato soup, potato pancake, and other dishes that go well as drinking snacks.

The two of us ordered the small grilled bone set with rice balls, a glass of jjaebaegi, and a drink. If four people came, I think it'd be great to add grilled cuttlefish or potato pancake to the bones and spread a bunch of dishes across the table. On weekday lunches they also serve bone hangover soup. From how the grilled bones looked, there seemed to be a good amount of meat on them.

Drink menu including draft beer and highball

For drinks there's draft beer, highball, and lemon soju cocktail, and corkage is also available. So it's good for having a drink with dinner, and on days you're craving a highball, you could start it as a meal-plus-drinks or come here as a second stop in Euljiro.

Side dishes and my first glass of jjaebaegi

Basic side dishes served with the grilled bones

The basic side dishes came out, and shortly after, the grilled bones arrived — even the small size filled the plate generously.

I was curious about jjaebaegi, which I'd never seen before, so I ordered it. Jjaebaegi is soju served cold with ice, and having the ice made it more refreshing than regular soju, pairing really well with sips between bites of the spicy grilled bones. Haha.

Smoky charcoal bone grill at spice level 1

White charcoal-grilled bones with thick meat

What stood out most was how thick the meat was on the bones. It wasn't a case of big bones with barely any meat to eat — I could pull off large chunks of meat, and the softer parts came off easily even with chopsticks.

Meat pulled off the grilled bones with chopsticks

We're pretty spice-sensitive, so we ordered spice level 1, and it was just right, haha. Despite the fiery-red look, it wasn't a spice level that hit you all at once — instead, the spicy sauce flavor came with a subtle smoky note from the white charcoal grilling.

Pulling off the meat and dipping it again into the sauce left generously on the plate added a rich sauce to the moist meat, and with the smoky finish, I kept reaching for more.

Wrapping the meat in grilled scallions: the best bite

Grilled scallions served alongside the grilled bones

And the thing that surprisingly turned out to be exactly my taste was the grilled scallion. It was my first time wrapping meat in scallion like that, and I thought, wow, I wish there was an option to add more scallion, haha. Instead of the sharp bite of raw scallion, the grilled version had a sweeter scent that paired really well with the spicy meat. Kind of like Spanish cuisine, ha.

Eating the grilled scallion together with the meat made the smoky flavor come through even stronger, plus the sweetness of the scallion on top — this combo was what I ate the most of.

Why we added rice balls to the bone grill

Rice balls ordered alongside the grilled bones

We ordered rice balls too, and if I'm having the grilled bones again, I'll definitely order these alongside next time as well.

Bite of rice ball mixed with seaweed flakes topped with meat and sauce

They're mixed well with seaweed flakes and shaped into bite-size pieces, then topped with the meat pulled off the bones and a little of the red sauce. Getting the savory seaweed and rice together with the tender meat and spicy sauce all in one bite — this combo was really delicious too.

Table spread of grilled bones and rice balls shared by two

Between the two of us, the small grilled bone set plus rice balls was plenty of food. There was quite a bit of meat on every bone, so it was more filling than expected.

Booking Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui for the next Euljiro night out

Final spread of the grilled bones meal at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui

Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is right in front of Euljiro 3-ga Station so it's easy to meet up, it has 1st and 2nd floor seating with an indoor restroom, and I liked that you can go from a meal to a highball all in one place.

I'm planning to come back, haha. Next time too I'll probably wrap the grilled bones in scallion again and order the rice balls the same way. It's good for two people having a meal, and if there's a group, you can add grilled cuttlefish or potato pancake — I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a spot for a wedding invitation gathering or a drinking spot in Euljiro :)
