I visited Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza, which sits between Hapjeong and Sangsu stations but carries the Hongdae name. I found it while looking for a good Hapjeong spot to enjoy wood-fired pizza and pasta together!

Inside, Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza has a warm, cozy feel with wood and brick finishes and soft lighting. The wood-fired oven sits in an open kitchen at the back, giving it a proper specialist-shop atmosphere.

Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza has run from this same location in Hapjeong since 2012! Looking at the Polaroid photos on the wall, I even spotted one from 2013. It felt like a genuine, longstanding Hapjeong institution.
Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza menu and prices: pizza and pasta

Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza specializes in wood-fired pizza, but the pasta menu is quite varied too. Every pizza can also be ordered half-and-half.

This time I ordered the restaurant's signature Quattro Stagioni pizza and the Gamberi Crema Penne.

Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza serves Naples-style pizza made with dough aged 72 hours and baked in an oven above 400°C. Tasting it, the crust was golden and the inside was chewy — the dough texture was great.

Quattro Stagioni pizza, 26,000 won: four flavors on one pie
✔️ Quattro Stagioni pizza, ₩26,000 Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza's signature dish combines four flavors on a single pizza: Quattro Formaggi, Margherita, Diavola, and Croccante.

The Quattro Formaggi had a rich, savory cheese flavor, and the Margherita balanced fresh tomato with cheese nicely. The Diavola was spicy and woke up the palate, and the Croccante was especially fun with its crunchy shrimp and garlic chips. For my taste, the Croccante was the best of the four 🤤

With four different flavors on one pizza, I never got tired of it, and I loved that the mini candle kept it warm till the very last slice.

Pickles are a must with pizza, and here you can easily get refills through the table-order system. Since I had a cheese pizza, they also brought out honey — pairing the two was delicious!!

Gamberi Crema Penne, 18,500 won: choose your pasta shape
✔️ Gamberi Crema Penne, ₩18,500 This pasta layers wood-fired flavor into a cream sauce with shrimp and mushrooms. You could choose from three pasta shapes: penne, spaghetti, or linguine.

The spaghetti soaked up the sauce well, and the shrimp had a springy texture. Behind the smooth cream flavor lingered a slight kick of spice, which paired nicely with the pizza too. If you're looking for Hapjeong pasta to go with wood-fired pizza, this is a great order to pair together.

As part of a review event, soda was provided :) We only ordered one, but they thoughtfully brought out two cups of ice anyway.
Final verdict: is Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza good for a Hapjeong date?
Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza was a great Hapjeong-dong restaurant for enjoying wood-fired pizza and pasta together. The Quattro Stagioni in particular, with its four flavors on one pie, was a great choice for a first visit, and the Gamberi Crema Penne paired well with it too.
Overall, the cozy, warm atmosphere made it a nice choice for a Hongdae or Hapjeong date. If you're looking for a restaurant near Hapjeong Station and want both Hapjeong pizza and Hapjeong pasta in one place, this fits the bill well, and it's also conveniently located if you're searching for a Hongdae restaurant or Hongdae pizza. Definitely one to remember as a Hapjeong-dong favorite.
