Hangover tendon pho at a Dongtan Station restaurant: Mibundang

In short

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is a pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) restaurant on the 1st floor of the Dongtan Station Richian building in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, and an easy spot for eating alone. After a 20-minute wait just past 1pm, the writer had tendon pho and brisket pho, lifting some noodles out of the bowl to mix with cilantro, onion strips and hoisin sauce for a second, bibim-style flavor. The broth tasted like galbitang (Korean beef short rib soup) and sat lightly on a stomach sore from too much drinking the night before, making it ideal hangover food.

A bowl of pho at Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch

Today I went to Mibundang, a pho restaurant near Dongtan Station that everyone raves about 🍜 It's a solo-dining holy site, and even past 1pm on a weekday there was a wait — that's how good this place is.

Where is Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, and what are the hours?

Ordering starts at the yellow kiosk

At Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, you have to put your order into this machine first — seating goes in the order orders come in. So first thing: find the yellow machine!!

Menu board listing the 5 types of pho at Mibundang

There's also a menu board next to it, which makes choosing easier. There are only 5 types of pho, so you basically just pick your toppings.

Parasols set out in the waiting area

Hovenia tea and parasols during the 20-minute wait

I already love Mibundang's pho, but honestly what I love even more is this kind of thoughtful service haha. For people waiting, they have cool jujube tea and even parasols set out.

Water and side dishes set up at each table

After about a 20-minute wait we got in, and water and side dishes were already set at every seat. If you run out while eating, instead of calling a staff member, you just put the empty dish up on the bar counter and they'll refill it right away.

Open kitchen and bar seating where the cooking process is visible

It's an open kitchen, so if you sit at the bar you can watch the whole cooking process. The kitchen is really clean and hygienic, which made me trust the food even more.

Two bowls of pho that arrived quickly

Tendon pho and brisket pho at Mibundang

Since we'd already ordered ahead, the food came out really fast. I always order the tendon pho, and my husband ordered the brisket pho.

Brisket pho piled high with thinly sliced brisket

The brisket pho comes piled high with thin slices of brisket on top — the meat itself is tender, and the more you chew it the more savory it gets. Really delicious.

It comes topped with chopped scallions and chili — if you don't like spicy, you can ask to leave those out.

A generously filled bowl of Mibundang pho

At Mibundang, noodles get a free refill with one order per person — but I've literally never needed a refill once, because the portions are already huge.

Pho topped with cilantro

Is Mibundang pho good hangover food?

We're cilantro people, so we asked for extra cilantro on top haha. My husband, who'd had too much to drink the night before, ate it saying it was curing his hangover — sweating buckets the whole time. I think for hangover food, something gentle like this pho is way better than something spicy and heavy like jjamppong.

Tendon pho with chewy tendon on top

How the tendon tastes

I always order the tendon pho because that chewy tendon is genuinely delicious. If tendon isn't seasoned, it's basically just chewing rubber, right? But Mibundang's tendon is seasoned, so it's amazing on its own ✨️

A generous portion of tendon pho

They gave a really generous portion again today. Ah, I'm getting hungry just writing this.

Tendon dipped in chili sauce

The tendon is great on its own, but it's also amazing dipped in the spicy chili sauce. As soon as my pho arrives, I push all the tendon down into the broth haha — it gets even softer that way.

How to turn pho into bibim noodles by lifting out the noodles

Here's how to enjoy two flavors from one bowl! Split off a small portion of noodles, top with cilantro and shredded onion, and drizzle with hoisin sauce — absolute paradise...

A plate of split-off noodles topped with cilantro, onion, and hoisin sauce

This way you get to enjoy both regular pho and bibim-style pho in one meal. And so today I walked the path of overeating once again...

Split-off noodles enjoyed bibim pho-style

The noodles and the broth

The noodles were in great condition today — soft and smooth, sliding right down. The broth tastes a bit like galbitang (short rib soup), so even people who are sensitive to spices will definitely like it. To me it feels like a really Korean-style pho.

Soft pho noodles and broth

Every single time I come to Mibundang I overeat... it's just seriously that good.

Pho noodles lifted with chopsticks

I make sure to pile the tendon on too — after dipping into the hot broth and coming back out (?), it gets even softer.

Sauce station, parking and mouthwash after the meal

Sauces are set out on top so everyone can use them individually (guilty of spending a while looking for where the sauces were the first time). Mibundang is not just about the taste — the level of thoughtfulness is on another level. It makes me regret all the years I lived without knowing about Mibundang hahaha.

Various sauces set out on the table

On your way out, there's mouthwash and candy available too. For parking, just tell a staff member and they'll register it right away. The staff are always kind, which makes every visit satisfying.

I really properly cured my hangover at Mibundang, the pho spot near Dongtan Station. If you're looking for a good meal or a solo-dining place near Dongtan Station, I genuinely recommend Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch. Stop by whenever you're craving pho 👍
