Byeongjeom date café with Indonesian pour-over: Baiden Coffee Bar

In short

Baiden Coffee Bar is a roastery pour-over café and coffee bar near Byeongjeom Station in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Stopping in after dinner on a Friday evening, this couple ordered Indonesian hand-drip coffee at 7,000 won, hippie iced tea at 6,000 won and French berry toast at 12,000 won, and found the dark vintage room with a film playing on the projector easy to talk in. Between the coffee aroma and the caramelized edges of the French toast, Baiden Coffee Bar is worth recommending to anyone looking for a date café in Byeongjeom.

After dinner with my husband on a Friday evening, we went looking for a café with good vibes for a date and ended up at Baiden Coffee Bar in Byeongjeom, Hwaseong. A place where you can enjoy delicious French toast dessert, coffee brewed from beans they roast themselves, coffee whiskey (coffee mixed with whiskey), original cocktails, and a wide variety of whiskeys. I really liked the cozy, almost pub-like atmosphere that set it apart from typical cafés — here's my review of Baiden Coffee Bar ✔️

Baiden Coffee Bar location and parking

Located right near Byeongjeom Station in Hwaseong's Byeongjeom neighborhood, close to Dongtan, is Baiden Coffee Bar. It's a café with no signboard, so the stark white building exterior is what catches your eye 👀. It had been a while since we'd eaten and had dessert and coffee in Byeongjeom, so we stopped by! There's no parking at the store itself, so you have to park at the Byeongjeom-gu Office public parking lot, a 2-minute walk away. We found an open spot in the alley near the building and parked there instead haha.

What is the atmosphere like inside Baiden Coffee Bar?

A cozy, atmospheric café in Byeongjeom

Table seating area on the right side of the store
Dimly lit interior seating at Baiden Coffee Bar

As soon as you walk in, there's a table area on the right side of the store. The place isn't huge, but the overall dark lighting somehow makes it feel even cozier. True to being a pour-over specialty shop with self-roasted beans, they also sell a variety of coffee beans.

This is the counter area on the left side of the store. Baiden Coffee Bar doesn't just sell coffee — they also serve whiskey and original cocktails, so there's a whole shelf full of various liquors 👌🏻. With that pub-like feel to the café, it seemed like a really great spot for a date!

Vintage decor pieces throughout the interior

The overall interior is pure aesthetic. It's vintage-feeling, and every single decorative piece seemed carefully chosen — you could tell right away this was the owner's personal taste ✨. If you like this kind of atmospheric vibe, it's the kind of interior any woman would love ><. There's a movie playing on a projector in the middle of the store, so it's great for chatting while watching a film 👍🏻.

Even the menu boards and lamps on each table have so much atmosphere, how is that possible?

Sign explaining the receipt review discount and membership program

✅ They're currently offering 10% off if you write a Naver receipt review, and ✅ they run a free VIP membership program that gives out monthly free coupons, letting you accumulate up to 20% in points you can use like cash. I also saw a note saying the owner is too shy to ask customers if the food was good, because they're scared people might say it wasn't — my husband and I both burst out laughing 🤣. But honestly, owner, you don't need to worry about that at all. The coffee and desserts here are genuinely delicious!

What we ordered: Indonesian hand-drip, hippie iced tea and French berry toast

Our order

Full spread of the ordered menu on the table

Pour-over coffee (Indonesia — red berry/wine) ₩7,000, hippie iced tea ₩6,000, French berry toast ₩12,000. My husband's Indonesian pour-over, my iced tea, and the French berry toast! How do drinks and desserts come out looking this pretty?

Cocktail-like hippie iced tea

The hippie iced tea I ordered has that sweet, tangy cocktail-like feel to it. It's not too sweet, and the tartness typical of iced tea comes through more, so it's noticeably different from iced teas at other cafés.

Iced pour-over coffee made with Indonesian beans

My husband loves coffee, and he said this was the first time he'd been to a café with this many bean options haha. Not only is there a wide variety, but the coffee itself definitely has a distinct aroma and taste. He got his iced, and he said it was even better being able to pour it into separate small glasses and sip slowly, savoring the aroma and flavor bit by bit.

Plate of French berry toast

Baiden Coffee Bar has a huge coffee lineup but only two desserts — tiramisu and toast — so I thought, hmm, the dessert options are a little limited. But the moment I tried the toast, I stopped thinking about any other dessert — it was that good. I think I get now why the owner confidently kept the dessert menu small haha.

Cross-section of the caramelized French toast
A bite of toast with berries and ice cream

The inside of the toast is super moist, while the outside is properly crisp from the caramelizing ⭐️. With the tartness of the berries plus the vanilla-sweet ice cream on top, this is hands down the best French toast I've ever had. It might sound like a common dish, but the details here are clearly different. This one deserves all the fuss!

How was Baiden Coffee Bar as a date café in Byeongjeom?

We didn't have much time, so we could only stay about an hour, but I already want to come back and stay longer next time. Catching up with my husband in that quiet, cozy atmosphere made for a really great date at Baiden Coffee Bar.
