I had dinner plans near Suyeong Station and was trying to decide what to eat, when I suddenly craved spicy agujjim (braised monkfish) again. So I went to Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang. This time I went completely alone, haha — I think it was actually my first time ever going to eat agujjim solo. But hey, you gotta eat what you want to eat, right? I walked in confidently and ordered a small agujjim plate with a beer. Bottom line up front: the food was delicious, the portion was bigger than expected, and I walked out stuffed.

Where is Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang, and where do you park?
Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang is located at 24 Suyeong-ro 725beon-gil, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan, about 239m from Exit 3 of Suyeong Station. Hours are Mon–Sat 15:00–23:00, closed every Sunday. There's no dedicated parking lot for the restaurant, so I'd recommend using the Paldo Market public parking lot, just a 1-minute walk away.

The first thing you notice arriving at the storefront is the fish tank. There are live fish inside, and the tank was so clean I felt confident walking right in.

Can you eat alone here? Size and mood of Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang
Once inside, Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang turned out to be a lot more spacious than it looked from the outside. There were plenty of tables, and the place was genuinely busy when I visited. Even on a weekday evening, a lot of tables were filled and customers kept streaming in — it seemed like a pretty well-known spot in the Suyeong area. I thought it might feel a bit awkward eating alone at first, but since the place was so big and full of customers, I actually ended up feeling more comfortable than I expected.

What I ordered was the small agujjim and a beer. Ordering a small portion solo, I did briefly wonder if it might be way too much food, haha.

What comes on the table before the food
On the table, basic condiments like chojang (vinegar-chili sauce) and soy sauce, plus a shot glass, water cup, and wet wipes were already set out, so I could start eating right away without asking for anything. With agujjim and other seafood dishes, you often need chojang partway through, so having it already at every table was convenient. A shot glass was set up too, which was nice for enjoying a beer alongside. These little details being ready in advance meant I could eat comfortably even with the place so busy^^

The 9 side dishes served with agujjim
Before the main dish arrived, the basic side dishes came out first — a whopping 9 kinds. Sweet potato, miyeok julgi (stem seaweed), corn salad, various jeon (pan-fried fritters), and more — with such variety, it was fun picking through them one by one even before the main dish showed up.

With a strongly seasoned dish like agujjim, you tend to crave other side dishes in between bites, and having so many options made it easy to mix things up.

Is the small agujjim plate enough for one person?
And finally, the agujjim arrived! Even the small size came piled high on the plate, and the portion looked like quite a lot for one person. It was topped with a mountain of bean sprouts, and the monkfish meat was evenly coated in the sauce.
Taking a bite, the sauce was spicy but also deeply savory, and I kept reaching for more. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of being spicy — the seasoning itself was genuinely tasty, and eating the bean sprouts together with the monkfish made for a great combo.
The bean sprouts still had a nice crunch, and the monkfish was soft and easy to eat. With a cold beer alongside, I got so into the meal I almost forgot I was eating alone, haha. Partway through, I naturally started craving plain rice. The sauce was so good that a spoonful of rice topped with sauce and a piece of monkfish would have paired perfectly.

I wanted to order rice too, but by then I'd already worked hard through most of the small agujjim, and my stomach simply couldn't take any more, haha.

Part of me really wanted to keep going and order rice, but in the end I accepted the limits of my stomach and gave up. Having eaten a small agujjim plus a beer solo, I think I ate pretty well as it was.

Verdict on a solo meal at Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang
Overall, Sintongyeong Agu Suyuk.Tang was a solid place to visit near Suyeong Station whenever agujjim or seafood dishes come to mind. The restaurant was spacious, busy with customers, and I liked that the basic side dishes came out generously, 9 kinds in total. Above all, the agujjim sauce really suited my taste, and the portion was generous enough that I left satisfied.
This time I came alone, but next time I'd love to come with family or friends and properly order rice alongside it too. If you're near Suyeong Station looking for a hearty agujjim spot, this place is worth a visit. This has been my honest review of eating a small agujjim plus beer, solo and satisfied^^
