Today I've got a review of the best brunch café I found on my Gwangalli trip — Famous Benny.
Honestly, I used to think "breakfast means hotel breakfast!" and pay well over a hundred thousand won for two at a breakfast buffet. But eating here today, I felt like I got hit over the head... 🤦♀️
For less than half the price of a hotel breakfast, you get a brunch with way better visuals, taste, vibe, and comfort! All the breakfast money I've wasted over the years flashed before my eyes, making me shout "from now on, it's here or nothing!" This is a truly genuine find. ✨
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch: location, hours and parking
Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is at 64 Minnakbondong-ro 11beon-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan, on the 1st and 2nd floors. Hours are 08:00-18:00, opening early in the morning — perfect for a stand-in for breakfast!
For parking, use a nearby paid lot. 💡 Parking tip: the Minnak Sea Land Parking Lot is a short walk away and cheap, so I'd recommend parking there!
Exposed-concrete exterior and the stairs straight up to the 2nd floor

The exterior is finished in exposed concrete, giving off a sleek, trendy vibe from the outside.

You can go up to the 2nd floor from inside the shop, but did you know there's also a stairway outside that leads straight up?
Ordering on the 1st floor, window seats on the 2nd

Ordering happens on the 1st floor, and the dining space is split between the 1st and 2nd floors.

I went up to the 2nd floor, and I really loved the clean, fresh interior — it felt like a brand new house.

The warm light coming in through the windows was wonderful, and combined with the warm wood-toned furniture and lighting, it was the perfect space to start a leisurely morning. ☕️🌿

This is Australian-style brunch, apparently. So Australians have been quietly eating something this delicious this whole time❗❗

Every single dish was so good I can't even pick a Top 1 ㅠㅠ
Croissant French toast, 17,000 won

🍞 French toast (croissant, bacon, banana, berry compote, maple syrup, mixed seeds) — this isn't made with regular sliced bread but with croissant as the base, so it's crispy outside and flaky and soft inside.
Usually French toast is all about the cream or sauce, but here there's banana tucked between the golden-toasted croissant! The banana isn't too soft or too firm, just the right texture, adding natural sweetness — and this combination is genuinely goosebump-inducing good.
Add butter crumble, tangy berry compote, maple syrup, and crispy bacon on top, and the sweet, tangy, savory harmony is insane! 🍌🍯 Not just the taste but the plating too — it felt like eating a Michelin dish.
Mushroom soup with a hint of truffle, 9,000 won

🥣 Mushroom soup (sourdough, pumpkin, mushroom) — this soup is just insane... you have to order it! 😭 From now on, this is where mushroom soup ends❗❗
It's on a totally different level from regular mushroom soup. Multiple mushrooms blend into a deep, complex flavor with a subtle truffle aroma swirling through. And the sourdough bread that comes with it is also perfectly baked — crispy outside, moist inside — so dipping it into the soup is just heaven... Please, you really have to try this, I highly recommend it! 👍
Rocket cheese toast, 9,000 won, plus bacon for 4,000 won

🧀 Rocket cheese toast (+bacon add-on) (sourdough, rocket, honey, seeds + added bacon) — between the nutty, golden-toasted sourdough there's a generous amount of fragrant rocket, cheese, honey, and various seeds (like chia seeds).
I took one bite and thought, wait, this is Busan seed hotteok (sweet seed pancake)?! Total Australia & Busan collab lol.

The nutty cheese, sweet honey, and crunchy seeds combine with the slight bitterness of rocket for the perfect sweet-savory-salty balance. Adding salty bacon takes the flavor up another level, so definitely add the bacon! 🥓
Doesn't this look and taste like something a celebrity eats every morning? Lol.
Verdict: Famous Benny instead of a hotel breakfast
If you're visiting Gwangalli in Busan, don't do the expensive, generic hotel breakfast in the morning — go straight to Famous Benny instead! It's got everything: great value, detail and quality in the food, beautiful visuals, and a comfortable, atmospheric space.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great brunch spot in Gwangalli! 200% would come back! 💯
Visuals and taste good enough to make you forget hotel breakfast entirely — an essential Gwangalli brunch stop!
