Grilled pork neck bones in Suyeong, Busan: Paldo Ppyeogui
In short
Paldo Ppyeogui Suyeong Main Branch is a grilled pork neck bone restaurant near Suyeong Station in Busan. I tried fire-grilled bones with self-made rice balls and Bushman bread in several ways for 35,000 won. Verdict: a fun, memorable choice when you want something beyond the usual Korean barbecue.

I visited Paldo Ppyeogui Suyeong Main Branch (팔도뼈구이 수영본점), which I found while looking for a slightly different kind of meat restaurant in Suyeong. When I think of a Korean barbecue place, pork belly or pork ribs usually come to mind first, but this place specializes in grilled bones—its name alone sounded intriguing! If you love trying unusual menu items, this is a place where you can have a fun meal (◍´ω`◍).
Location and atmosphere near Suyeong Station
Paldo Ppyeogui Suyeong Main Branch is a grilled-bone specialty restaurant near Suyeong Station. There are lots of pork belly and pork rib options when you look for a meat restaurant in Suyeong, so this less-common menu really caught my eye!!!

The restaurant has a retro feel, making it a comfortable place to eat with friends or gather and chat in a group. It is close to Suyeong Station, so it is easy to reach by public transport, and the route also seemed convenient for heading to a second spot or café around Suyeong after dinner, haha.
Grilled-bone spice levels and what I ordered

Paldo Ppyeogui offers several seasoning levels for its grilled bones!! There are mild, less spicy, spicy, extra spicy, and salt-grilled options, which I think is a plus: people who cannot handle heat and people who love spicy food can both choose to suit their tastes, haha.
I ordered the Paldo Ppyeogui + self-made rice ball small set for ₩35,000, the Kelly draft beer 1+1 event for ₩4,500, and soju for ₩5,000 ૮₍˶•🐽•˶₎ა
Potato salad, coleslaw, and steamed egg side dishes

One thing I personally liked was that the complimentary side dishes were quite substantial. There was a nice variety to eat alongside the grilled bones. The potato salad and coleslaw were especially delicious to me!
The potato salad was soft, savory, and mild, so it was great to have between bites of grilled bones. The coleslaw was crisp and refreshing, which paired well with the seasoned meat. Your mouth can start to feel a little overwhelmed when you keep eating seasoned meat, but the coleslaw freshened everything up, so I kept reaching for it, haha.

I also liked that steamed egg came as a basic side. I took a spoonful of the warm, bubbling steamed egg, and it was incredibly soft with such a lovely texture. If you order spicy grilled bones, it would be great for soothing the heat between bites, too. It felt even better because they had put care into the accompaniments as well as the grilled bones themselves.
Putting grilled bones in Bushman bread

The large-bowl rice ball set included Bushman bread, and at first I thought, “Why is bread coming out at a meat restaurant?”!!! But after trying it, I found that it went surprisingly well together. Rather than eating the bread on its own, I put grilled-bone meat inside and made a sandwich with it.

I split the bread in half, filled it with grilled-bone meat, and ate it together—it was a better combination than I expected. The soft bread and seasoned meat felt like a slightly unusual meat sandwich! Eating only meat can become a little monotonous, but having it with bread made it fun to enjoy in another way (๑><๑)۶
Fire-grilled pork neck bones with rice balls

Paldo Ppyeogui says it uses meaty pork neck bones, marinates them in a special sauce for 24 hours, then grills them directly over fire. As soon as I saw the grilled bones I ordered, I was happy because the serving looked quite generous. The visual was distinctly different, with the smoky character unique to direct-fire grilling. The sauce had deeply soaked into the surface of the meat, and there was a subtle fire aroma too!!

The first thing I noticed when eating the grilled bones was the smoky flavor. Because the meat is simmered in special sauce and then grilled over direct fire, a gentle charred flavor came through with the seasoning, making it different from ordinary seasoned pork. It was also fun to pull the meat from the pork neck bones myself. There was a good amount of meat on them, so there was more to eat around each bone than I expected!! The seasoning had soaked in well, so it went nicely with rice, and it was tasty even on its own, haha.

Grilled bones and rice balls are practically the classic pairing, aren’t they? Haha. The plain flavor of the rice balls went especially well with the seasoned grilled bones. Making the rice balls into little rounds yourself was fun too, so if you visit with friends, it could be fun to order one and have everyone make their own!! Put a piece of grilled bone meat on a rice ball and it is filling, and the sauce-and-rice combination never disappoints.

Combinations I recommend trying
- Grilled-bone meat on its own: lets you fully taste the direct-fire smokiness and seasoning.
- Grilled bones + large-bowl rice balls: a filling combination of seasoned meat and rice.
- Grilled bones + Bushman bread: put the meat between the bread like a sandwich for something special.
It was the same grilled bones, but the feeling changed depending on what I ate with them, so I could enjoy it without getting tired of it (´,,•ω•,,)♡

If you want a different kind of meat in Suyeong
It was my first time trying grilled bones, and I had more fun with it—and enjoyed it more—than I expected. The pork neck bones were loaded with meat, so pulling it off was fun, while the gentle direct-fire smokiness paired nicely with the seasoning. What stayed with me most was putting grilled bones into the Bushman bread included in the large-bowl rice ball set and eating it like a sandwich.
It was more fun because I could enjoy it in several ways rather than simply eating meat on its own. If you want to try something a little different from the usual meat dishes in Suyeong, I think it would be worth stopping by (๑ˇ3ˇ๑). I would visit again 👍
