Lately I've been waking up with a stiff body, an aching lower back, and legs that seem to be curving more and more ㅠㅠ With forward pelvic tilt, forward head posture, and rounded shoulders all going on with me, I went looking for a custom Pilates program that could help, and I ended up visiting Vines Pilates, which strengthens core muscles while refining body shape.
A lot of people look into Pilates for posture and body correction, but with so many studios out there, it's hard to know where to go. 🤔 Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch has a fixed-teacher system and special programs, so members are managed really systematically!
Where Vines Pilates is in Bongcheon-dong, and its opening hours
Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch is at B1, JK Tower, 20 Nambusunhwan-ro 220-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It's open Mon–Fri 10:00–22:00 and Saturday 10:00–14:00, closed Sundays. Parking is available with the first 2 hours free.

It's just a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 of Seoul National University Entrance Station, so the access is really good! I liked that it's close enough to drop by before or after work haha.

Pass LABOUM Outlet Seoul National University branch and turn left into the alley — it's right opposite Saebongcheon Presbyterian Church.

It's located in the JK Tower building with its own separate entrance, so just look for the building marked Vines Pilates and go in.

Right at the entrance there's a pamphlet with lesson info! Getting a bit nervous since it's been a while since I did Pilates 🤣 The studio is on B1, so you head down the stairs.

Just one flight down, the blue door is open, and right inside is the studio entrance! It felt clean and pleasant right away :) There are slippers at the entrance, so you change your shoes there before heading in.
🚻 Restroom location — Men's and women's restrooms are at the studio entrance.
Inside Vines Pilates: the atmosphere and cardio zone
Right when you walk into the center, there's a front desk where they handle reservations and consultations. It was so clean and pleasant that there was no cramped feeling at all!

Surprisingly, Vines Pilates has an actual cardio zone?! ㅋㅋㅋㅋ This is the first Pilates studio I've seen with a cardio area. Members taking Pilates classes can use it anytime during operating hours, which means you can drop by for cardio even before class or on days you don't have a session — such a plus!! I really loved this 🥹❤️
Next to the cardio machines there were towels to wipe off sweat, which felt really thoughtful haha. And the certified business registration was displayed somewhere members could check it, which gave me a sense of trust in the studio ☺️

There's also an InBody machine, so you can check weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, body fat percentage and so on, and compare before-and-after.

Overall the facilities at Vines Pilates are really clean and pleasant! There's shared wifi, a water purifier, snacks, hair ties, and socks you can buy in case you forget yours for class — I actually bought a pair and wore them to my session haha.

Private lesson space and the private rooms
The main area of the center has a space for private lessons, with all the equipment — barrel, chair, reformer — plus lots of small props, so it seems like classes are tailored to what each person needs! When it's not being used for a private lesson, all members can use it freely to work out.
Besides the private-lesson space, there are also actual private rooms. There's one private room in the cardio area and another private room beside the group room.

When the door is closed you can't really see in from outside, so it looked great for taking classes comfortably without worrying about being watched! Also, one whole wall is a mirror, so you can keep checking your form during class, which made corrections instant.
Chair barrel group room and Cadillac-reformer group room
The group rooms are split into two — the first is for chair barrel classes, which is where I took my class that day, and the space felt spacious even with a lot of equipment! The second group room has the Cadillac reformer. Every single piece of equipment was clean and well kept, which felt good as someone using it haha.
Vines Pilates also has a separate lounge area. After my first class my legs were shaking, so I rested here for 5 minutes ㅋㅋㅋ The bright, clean white tones with a dark green sofa and orange cushions as accents were a nice touch 👀✨️
What are the changing rooms and showers like?
Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch has showers and lockers. You know how it is when you're not heading straight home after working out, or live far away, or just don't want to travel sweaty ㅠ

When I'm checking out gyms I also care a lot about how clean the showers and lockers are, and even after the morning classes had ended, everything was kept spotless. There were even hangers for clothes haha.

Inside the shower stalls there's shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so you don't need to bother bringing your own — perfect for washing up right after your workout.

The locker room has not just a hair dryer but also a flat iron and various combs, plus hair ties, cotton swabs, body lotion and more, so you really can come with just your body when heading to a workout! For feminine products, just ask at the desk.

In front of the changing room there's a full-length mirror for a final look-check, so after washing up you can do an appearance check here 🤣
How to book a consultation and classes at Vines Pilates
When you walk into the center, the teacher at the front desk kindly walks you through everything and does the consultation.

You fill out a chart with your workout goals and exercise history, and once you mention your preferred time slot, workout style, and any body areas you're currently uncomfortable with or want to improve, they recommend a lesson tailored to you.

While filling out the consultation form, they explained the Pilates equipment and how classes are structured and staged using a tablet, so I could understand the flow and goals of the class I was about to take.
At Vines Pilates you can choose one of two ways to take group lessons: reservation-based or fixed-teacher.
Booking by reservation
With the reservation system, you can book classes ahead of time through an app called Hi-Five. You can freely choose the date, time, teacher, and class type according to when you're available.
Popular time slots or days fill up fast, so you need to book early, and since you can freely book and cancel, it might be harder to keep up consistent attendance — but for people who want flexible participation, this would be really satisfying.
Also, if you check the day before or the day of, spots sometimes open up from other people's cancellations!! You can also join a waitlist for a class you want, which I liked. The reservation system suits people who already have strong motivation to work out!
Classes with a fixed teacher
The fixed system means you set a day and time in advance and take class with the same teacher at the same time every week. This fixed-teacher system, unique to Vines Pilates, has one teacher handling a fixed group of 5 members, running like a 5:1 personal-lesson style class with monthly goal-setting and weekly feedback.
Because the same teacher runs the class with the same flow each time, workout efficiency goes up and body changes tend to show up faster, and since it becomes a routine, it helps you beat laziness too! So if your goal is posture correction, I'd recommend the fixed-teacher system more, and if your goal is just general exercise, the more flexible app reservation system. (When I asked during the consultation, they said 80% of group members come for the fixed-teacher system.) That said, changing your schedule on the day is harder than with the reservation system ㅠㅠ
Private one-on-one lessons
Private lessons at Vines Pilates are run 100% by full-time instructors! Since both private and group lessons are handled only by full-time instructors, they can manage a chart-based program, and you get the advantage of continuing group lessons with the same teacher after a private lesson.
What was the 5:1 chair barrel group class actually like?
I signed up for the 5:1 group class at Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch, and even though it was a group class, the coach went around and carefully checked each person's form individually every time posture or equipment changed — and from the very first class explained what was wrong with my form and body condition, so I could immediately understand which areas were supposed to be activated. I was really satisfied with that.
Even after class, they pointed out which areas were weak and where my posture was off and gave me feedback, which made me more conscious of my posture even in everyday life — really helpful! With such precise coaching and clear feedback, I was hit with intense muscle soreness since it had been a while since my last Pilates session ㅋㅋㅋㅋ but I was so satisfied that I think I'll keep going consistently!
If you're looking for a Pilates studio near Bongcheon-dong or Seoul National University Entrance Station, I recommend Vines Pilates!!
