Why the writer started Pilates again near Seoul National University Entrance Station
Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch is a Pilates studio in the basement of JK Tower near the station. Living alone nearby, I was constantly wandering between gyms like a workout nomad, trying to figure out what to do next.
Then I thought — shouldn't I pick Pilates back up in Seoul, since I used to do it in Jeju? So I went to check out Vines Pilates. After trying 6 sessions myself, the classes turned out to be really systematic and effective, and I liked the facilities quite a bit too — so here's my honest review.

Inside the studio: cardio zone, showers and changing rooms

Such a clean entrance!

The whole studio has a lively, bright vibe that makes you want to work out just from being there.

Stairmaster, treadmill, and other cardio machines.

On the way to the changing room — there's a big mirror, so you can't help but keep checking yourself out.

Both the shower room and the changing room are spotless and clean!

I recommend non-slip socks.
100% full-time trainers for private and group classes alike

Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch has three separate rooms for private lessons. Private lessons are run entirely by full-time trainers. At most other studios, part-time trainers run the group classes while freelancers handle private lessons. Here, though, one full-time trainer covers both private and group classes.
The biggest advantage is that, as full-time staff, they have a strong sense of belonging and responsibility, and they manage members thoroughly. Plus, you can keep going with the same trainer for group lessons even after your private sessions end, so your workout flow never gets interrupted — I really love that.

How hard are the classes? Six sessions that wrecked the core
All the trainers are so kind and put real heart and effort into watching each and every student (which is exactly why the workout actually works...). They also directly tell you how to adjust the intensity depending on whether you're a beginner or more advanced.
Because of that, I felt confident that I was doing the exercises with correct form, and my confidence grew along with it. Pilates also uses your core muscles a surprising amount, so there were plenty of moments I wanted to give up halfway through. But in a group setting, you naturally get this friendly sense of competition — wanting to be as good as the person next to you — so you end up pushing through instead of quitting.

Barrel and chair room with a 1-to-5 class limit
The barrel & chair room. Most other studios usually run 1-to-6 classes, but here it's 1-to-5, so the trainer feels much more closely attentive.

Cadillac room, plus fixed-teacher vs app-booked classes
The Cadillac room. Vines Pilates group classes come in two forms: the app-booking program like other studios, and a fixed-teacher, chart-managed program unique to Vines Pilates. In the fixed-teacher system, one dedicated teacher takes charge of the same fixed group of 5 members every time.
Because they set clear monthly goals and give detailed weekly feedback, it feels like a high-quality class almost as good as a 5-to-1 private lesson. So if your goal is body shape or posture correction, I'd absolutely recommend the fixed-teacher system; if you just want light exercise, the app-booking system is the more relaxed option! In fact, apparently about 80% of group members come specifically for the fixed-teacher system.

Verdict after a 6-session trial at Vines Pilates
Personally, the trainers here have such great passion and watch over each member's Pilates progress so carefully in every class... So every single time, I left drenched in sweat and with my legs completely wrecked. Honestly, just go try it first!
Vines Pilates Seoul National University Entrance Station branch is staffed entirely by responsible, 100% full-time trainers — not part-timers — which sets the quality apart, and its fixed-teacher group lesson system manages everything systematically from monthly goal-setting to feedback. With small 1-to-5 classes for close, hands-on care, if you want precise body correction tailored to you and real workout results, come put an end to your gym-nomad life here!
