Korean pot rice lunch date in Sangam DMC with kids' gear: Solsot

Today I'm introducing Solsot Sangam Branch, a Sangam DMC restaurant my husband and I visited for a lunch date. We were trying to figure out what to eat and, maybe because I'd been feeling low on energy lately, I was really craving eel. But my husband is a meat guy haha.

Me: eel. Him: meat. While looking for somewhere that could satisfy us both, we landed on Solsot Sangam Branch, which has a variety of pot rice dishes. Spoiler: even my husband, who isn't a big eel fan, nodded along approvingly — it turned out to be a hearty, satisfying lunch 🤍

Where is Solsot Sangam, and where do you park?

Solsot Sangam Branch is located on the basement level (Unit 101) of the DDMC building in the Sangam DMC business district. The address is 75 Maebongsan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Parking is free for a base 30 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes if you dine in. If you're driving, it's worth keeping the parking support time in mind.

Inside Solsot Sangam: tables and private rooms

Even before stepping inside, I noticed photos of the steak pot rice and sea bream pot rice displayed by the front door.

The interior was done in warm, clean wood tones overall. Beyond the regular tables, there's also a more separated room space, which is worth knowing about if you're looking for private-room dining or a family meal spot in Sangam.

Can you bring a child? Kids' gear at Solsot Sangam

What especially caught my eye as a mom was Solsot Sangam's facilities for kids. There was a baby chair, of course, plus kids' tableware and other baby items — even the ordering tablet had a separate guide listing all the baby supplies available.

Besides the baby chair, they have kid-sized stainless steel spoons and forks, a silicone suction bowl, and hygienic disposable bibs. A comfortable baby chair and sanitizing wet wipes for before and after meals were listed too.

Eating out with a kid means packing what feels like a moving truck's worth of stuff haha. With all this gear already available at the restaurant, it felt so much lighter to visit 🤍

There was also a separate guide for younger babies' needs. Along with the baby chair and dedicated baby tableware, they provide disposable bibs, straws, and even a handheld fan to cool down food. Since pot rice is served piping hot, food temperature is something you worry about when eating with a baby — so having a handheld fan on hand felt like a really thoughtful touch.

You can just ask staff for anything you need, and they mentioned they can also adjust the pot rice temperature for infant guests. If you're visiting with a child, it's a good idea to mention it when ordering.

Little touches like this mean a lot to parents when eating out with kids :) There's usually a long list of things to pack, so having all this ready makes it so much easier to bring a child along. I thought I could easily come here alone with just my kid haha.

Solsot Sangam menu and prices

Solsot serves a range of pot rice dishes — meat, fish, seafood. Here are the prices for the signature menu items.

There's also sea bream scallop pot rice, abalone pot rice, and cheese dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) pot rice, among others. It's the perfect spot for couples like us who never crave the same thing. We didn't even have to think twice — my husband got the steak pot rice, I got the freshwater eel pot rice.

Freshwater eel pot rice, 25,000 won

This was the freshwater eel pot rice I'd been dying for that day. Maybe because I'd been feeling low on energy, I couldn't stop thinking about eel haha. The pot rice arrived topped with glossy eel, and the plump eel meat was exactly what I wanted. Best of all, there was no fishy smell and the meat was tender — I really enjoyed it.

The eel pot rice came with myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves), pickled ginger, wasabi, and perilla leaves. Piling the eel onto the rice and adding a side dish here and there let me enjoy a whole range of flavors.

I also gave my husband, who isn't much of an eel fan, a bite. He tried it and just nodded silently haha. I'll take that as a sign it suited his taste too. As someone who really wanted eel that day, it was a very satisfying lunch 🤍

Steak pot rice, 17,000 won

My husband ordered one of Solsot's signature dishes, the steak pot rice. It's rice topped with steak, an egg yolk, and chopped green onion.

You pop the yolk and mix it in with butter and the house special sauce. Steak can get tough if overcooked, but my husband said this one was tender. He even said kids could eat it too.

Since my meat-loving husband enjoyed it so much, it's worth considering if you're visiting with kids too — just cut the meat into smaller pieces for them :)

Even the utensil sets came neatly wrapped! That's an extra step that takes effort, and that kind of thoughtfulness really won me over.

There was even text engraved on the pot rice lid. It was fun spotting little details like this haha.

Discounts and review events at Solsot Sangam

There's an ordering tablet on each table, and while eating I noticed it also listed discount and photo review events. That's the kind of thing that always catches a mom's eye haha.

20% off for military, police and firefighters

First was a 20% discount event for military, police, and firefighters. It applies weekdays after 1pm and all day on weekends. It's not valid on every menu item though — only on select items covered by the promotion. If you qualify, it's worth checking with staff before ordering which items are eligible and how to apply it :)

Naver first-visit photo review event

Second was a Naver photo review event. Writing a review with a photo after your first visit gets you a can of Sprite Zero or Coca-Cola Zero. The drink is a 190ml can, for reference.

Second-visit photo review event

There's also a perk for returning customers. Writing a photo review after your second visit gets you one fried shrimp. It's listed as one shrimp per review.

How to participate was explained on the tablet and signage — ask staff for your receipt, find Solsot Sangam Branch on Naver, and write a visitor review. After writing the review, show it to staff. What you get depends on your visit count, so if you're planning to take part, check it before your meal 🤍 Event details and items offered may vary depending on when you visit.

Finishing with salty nurungji (scorched rice)

My favorite moment when eating pot rice is always the very end — the scorched rice, or nurungji, at the bottom haha. At Solsot, you scoop the rice into the side bowl and pour water into the pot to soak the leftover scorched layer. Close the lid, keep eating your rice, and by the time you're done, delicious nurungji has formed.

Since pot rice is already seasoned, that seasoning seeps into the water and makes the nurungji slightly salty — and it's so good. It's not just plain scorched rice; it still carries a subtle trace of the pot rice's flavor. After a filling bowl of eel pot rice, finishing with warm nurungji felt like a truly complete meal.

The verdict on Solsot Sangam

My husband and I couldn't agree on what to eat for lunch, which is how we ended up at Solsot Sangam Branch. I enjoyed the plump, tender eel pot rice, and he enjoyed the steak pot rice. Even my husband, who isn't a big eel fan, nodded approvingly after trying mine — a lunch that satisfied us both.

Best of all, with kids' tableware and a baby chair already on hand, I'd happily bring our child along next time.
