Pot rice set for two in Sangam: sea bream scallop and yurinchi, Solsot

We had a really good dinner in Sangam yesterday! Solsot is a place I used to go to a lot back in Yeonnam-dong, but honestly... it was even tastier than I remembered! The place is clean and spacious too, great for family gatherings or dates!

Where is Solsot Sangam Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Solsot Sangam Branch is a pot rice restaurant on Maebongsan-ro, close to DMC Station. Hours are Monday to Friday 11:00–21:00, with a break time from 16:00 to 17:00. For now, it's closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

There are several branches around Seoul, but of the ones I've been to, the Sangam location was the biggest and had the easiest parking! Parking really matters when eating out in Seoul, right? You can reserve easily through Naver, and they give you various coupons when you do! Plus there are tons of events haha. There are so many offices nearby too, so it seems like a great lunch spot for workers around here!

What pot rice dishes are on the Solsot Sangam menu?

The pot rice menu is really varied. Steak pot rice and sea bream scallop pot rice are the signature dishes, and besides those there's freshwater eel pot rice, cockle pot rice, salmon pot rice, abalone pot rice — so many different kinds of pot rice!

What comes in the pick-two set for two

You order through a kiosk, and I went with the pick-two dinner set. It comes with 2 pot rice dishes, one side dish, and one drink! Great combo and great value! I ordered the signature sea bream scallop pot rice, and my husband ordered the hairtail fillet pot rice! You can also double the portion for an extra charge. Even the regular size is pretty generous, haha.

By the time we finished eating, the place was packed with customers! Women dining alone, solo diners, families — all kinds of people, haha. I mean, who doesn't like pot rice, young or old? Haha.

They have baby chairs too, so it'd be great for customers with little ones! Haha.

The tables are really spacious too! When you're making the nurungji (scorched rice) and setting the pot aside, a cramped space would be annoying, but it was nice and roomy!

A neat full table arrived! Nurungji broth, soup, salad, jeotgal (salted seafood), kimchi, soy sauce, even a yogurt drink!

The salad and those side dishes made the pot rice even tastier, haha.

Sea bream and scallop pot rice

This is my sea bream scallop pot rice >_< A big chunk of sea bream, plus rich butter and thick scallops...!! There's just no way this could taste bad. And it's a flavor that's not overpowering, but healthy! I've been eating a lot of greasy meat lately, so I chose the sea bream scallop... it was clean-tasting, and the scallops were chewy and so delicious!

Boneless hairtail pot rice

My husband's hairtail fillet pot rice had two big chunks of boneless hairtail in it. Loaded with fragrant sesame seeds too. And the seasoning sauce for the hairtail pot rice was different! Such a nice detail...!

I stole a few bites, haha, and since it's fillet, there's no need to pick out bones, haha. The hairtail was really tender.

Yurinchi, the side dish we picked

My husband said it was tastier than the yurinchi at most Chinese restaurants, lol! The fried coating was really crispy, and the sauce was so refreshing!

Ate it plain too, and wrapped in seaweed as well, haha. However you eat it, Solsot is delicious! Haha.

Rock-paper-scissors event and the sweet potato croquette

As an event, Solsot lets you play rock-paper-scissors with the owner, and if you win, you get a free croquette! Little events like this are so fun! My husband lost, and I won, so I got the croquette!

It was a sweet potato croquette, and it was so soft and moist, haha. I feel a little guilty but... glad I won... hehe.

Nurungji with broth on the side, down to the last spoonful

Unlike other places, Solsot serves the broth separately! It's a completely different, more fundamental flavor than when you just add water, lol. Normally I'm too full to finish the nurungji, but the broth had such deep, savory flavor while staying clean, so I finished the whole pot, haha.

Solsot Sangam Branch, with all its fun events! We had such an enjoyable meal. Solsot really did its Solsot thing, haha. We kept hearing delivery orders being called out, and turns out our neighborhood is in their delivery zone too! Hehe, but eating in the restaurant is way better, so I'd love to come back again!
