Cheongju tteokbokki shop with a stroller at noon: Bubu Duri
In short
Bubu Duri Tteokbokki Cheongju Geumcheon Branch is a new tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), sundae (Korean blood sausage) and fried-snack shop near Geumcheon Plaza in Cheongju. After ordering delivery first, the writer arrived with a stroller right at the noon opening and ordered tteokbokki at 6,000 won, sundae at 4,000 won, spicy odeng (fish cake) at 3,000 won and fried chili at 4,000 won as separate dishes. The step at the entrance was awkward with a stroller, but the room is wide with generous space between tables, and the freshly fried chili was far crispier than the delivery version.

If you love tteokbokki near Geumcheon Plaza, this is good news! I was so sad when Babmat Tteokbang closed down 🥲 I used to go there all the time since high school...!!! But nearby, a snack bar famous in Bongmyeong-dong in Cheongju, Bubu Duri Tteokbokki, has finally opened here in Geumcheon-dong too!! I ordered delivery first before visiting the store. The tteokbokki was delicious, but what really stuck with me was how crispy the fried snacks were even after delivery! So this time I went for a walk in the daytime and visited the store in person for this review 💛

Bubu Duri Tteokbokki Cheongju Geumcheon hours and visiting with a stroller
Bubu Duri Tteokbokki Cheongju Geumcheon Branch is open from noon to 2 AM, closed every Monday. One of the best things about this Geumcheon-dong branch is exactly that — it stays open into the early hours, so it's great for late-night takeout, and since there's beer on the menu, it doubles as a snack-bar-pocha vibe 🤗
It wasn't too hot out, with a nice breeze, so I strolled over pushing the stroller. There was a step at the entrance that made it a bit tricky to get the stroller in, but thankfully the inside was spacious with generous table spacing, so it was fine to eat with the stroller parked beside us. (I don't remember if they had a baby chair, though 😓)

I'd actually tried it by delivery before! The tteokbokki, sundae, and fried snacks were all delicious, which is why I went in person. (Eating there is a different experience from delivery, after all!)

I timed my arrival right at the noon opening, and the smell of tteokbokki and fried snacks was amazing 🤭

Inside the shop and how kiosk ordering works
The tables were generous and the interior was fairly spacious. Once I sat down and looked around, I noticed a kiosk at every table. (I ended up ordering directly with the owner, though, haha 😂) For takeout customers, using the kiosk near the entrance means you don't even have to step inside — even more convenient!

Bubu Duri Tteokbokki menu and prices
The menu has everything from tteokbokki, sundae, and fish cakes to fried snacks, plus set menus if you want to try several things at once! Since the place stays open late, they also have soju, beer, and fries! Snacks with beer — sounds like a good excuse for daytime drinking sometimes, right?
- Tteokbokki ₩6,000
- Sundae ₩4,000
- Spicy odeng ₩3,000
- Fried chili ₩4,000

What's on the self-serve bar
There's a self-serve bar in the back. Water, odeng (fish cake) broth, small plates, pickled radish, and green onion are all set up, so you just take what you need! Tteokbokki and odeng broth are a must, so I went to grab some — and was surprised to find it cold.

How did the tteokbokki, spicy odeng and sundae taste?
Everything I ordered came out at once!!! The portions were much bigger than I expected! The set menus have great value, but I figured they'd be too much food, so I ordered everything separately — and even that looked like plenty.

First, the tteokbokki!!! This is the taste of nostalgic old-school snack bar tteokbokki. The sauce was spicy-sweet and soaked well into the rice cakes!

The spicy odeng. Totally different from the tteokbokki sauce. It's spicy, so those who can't handle heat should watch out! But it's so good you keep reaching for more — I think choosing spicy odeng over the plain version was the right call.

The sundae has a fairly standard taste. Generous portion, too. They were generous with the liver as well, which I loved — I'm the type who always has to eat the liver with sundae!!

The fried chili you shouldn't skip
And the dish you absolutely have to try at Bubu Duri Tteokbokki: fried chili! Fresh out of the fryer, it was unbelievably crispy — watch out, it's hot. Moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, and dipped in the tteokbokki sauce it's pure bliss! The fried items here really are excellent. I remember being impressed by how crispy the kimmari (seaweed noodle roll) was even by delivery before. (Not soggy at all — pure crunch!!!) Definitely order the fried items here 📌

Delivery or dine-in: which tasted better?
Delivery is good, but eating there in person was even better! The two of us ate until we were full and still had leftover sundae to take home. It was tasty by delivery too, but eating the tteokbokki and freshly fried snacks right there made it even better. Takeout and delivery are convenient, but if you have the time, go visit in person! A must-try tteokbokki spot in Geumcheon-dong, Bubu Duri Tteokbokki! Next time, I'll be back with beer! 🍻💛
