Hahaha, why bother? You've made it this far — are you going to leave just because you think this is an ad? Absolutely not. When a place is worth the trip, I really do write it up in full.

Wow!! Here's my long-awaited reunion with Teolbone Taco after 4 years.

On a nice day around Seongsu-dong, I was randomly checking a map when I spotted a familiar name — Teolbone Taco?? Huh?????? Even though I was drunk that night 3-4 years ago, my memory of how insanely good it was is still crystal clear.

It disappeared for a while and I wandered as a taco nomad, but out of pure joy I texted them right away and rushed over haha (also, before that, I fell in love with their delivery near Gwangnaru) — so basically, the glorious resurrection of an insanely delicious taco place.

Teolbone Taco is a Mexican restaurant located on the 1st floor of 60 Dukseom-ro 23-gil, Gwangjin-gu, in a back alley near Konkuk University Station. Countless Mexican restaurants have popped up around Seongsu-dong, Jayang-dong, and Konkuk, along with weird taco franchises — I mean seriously, there are like a hundred-something franchises selling tacos alongside burgers haha, way too many places that are basically just tortillas stuffed with meat and nothing more. I've been so disappointed by those that I only go back to the taco places I already trust.

The exterior radiates hipness from another galaxy, the music is upbeat — honestly it has that foreign, Itaewon-level vibe. There's even a chair out front reserved just for the bearded owner haha, something quirky and fun about it.

What is the interior and seating like at Teolbone Taco?

Inside Teolbone Taco, the centerpiece is a long straight front bar, and there's also a spot near the entrance where about 4 people can sit around a round table. Hahaha, wow, this is genuinely insane. The interior is straight-up designed by a real taco lover.

Hahaha, I've never seen a taco place set up like this — almost omakase-style, where dishes come out one after another right in front of you. Don't worry about group size, just come on in with your friends.

Red and green contrast at this taco bistro pub. On weekends, whenever I pass by, I always see so many people totally wasted haha, eating tacos then heading off for hangover ramen — it's a familiar scene.

Is corkage free? Teolbone Taco's drink lineup

With advance inquiry, Teolbone Taco offers corkage-free drinking. The liquor shelf is a mix of bottles brought by customers and the owner's own — Hibiki, Masan Jeongjong, Ballantine's 30, Royal Salute 21, and more. Did you know corkage can even be free? (Advance inquiry required.)

Soju, beer, whiskey, whatever — this is the one and only taco place where you can enjoy tacos no matter what you're drinking. They have a solid range of soju too, Jinro Chamisul and even Saero!

Like the bar seating, the open kitchen also stretches out in one straight line.

An open kitchen always builds trust, haha. And the bearded owner has a pretty cool profile — his jokes land heavy too. Ha ha ha.

All food really should come with drinks. And tacos especially! So of course we pre-ordered soju, Cass beer, and Chamisul haha.

What we ordered at Teolbone Taco, and what it costs

Here's what we ordered at Teolbone Taco that day and the prices.

Of course, we had to start with tacos — beef or pork? On the owner's recommendation, we went with pork.

Pork taco, ₩12,800

Out came a taco generously stuffed with pork. Two pieces for under ₩13,000 — sugoi pricing. It comes with cream cheese to spread, plus plenty of jalapeños and cheese, and the pork with the sauce sticks right to your tongue before that signature spicy-tangy flavor washes it all away.

I also tried adding the Mexican green salsa, and it was a whole new flavor — hahaha, genuinely amazing. The sauce is pretty bold, but the meat and onion still have great texture. I should've added cilantro too. Trying something new is always the right call, haha.

Chimichanga with chili sour cream sauce, ₩15,800

Next up, the chimichanga — a tortilla stuffed to the brim with beef and deep-fried, with a choice between chili sour cream or steak sauce. Going with the flavor I knew, I chose chili sour cream. Cutting into it neatly, out oozed rich juices and melty cheese, oh my.

I hear Chipotle is coming to Seoul — they'd better watch out, haha, this is seriously good. Apparently it's not authentic Mexican cuisine, more like the American-developed style of Mexican food. I've never had a chimichanga with this many toppings in my life. The huge chunks of beef inside hit exactly my taste — totally got me.

The unexpected winner: Teolbone Taco's fried fish taco

My personal number one at Teolbone Taco that night was the fish taco (₩12,800). Ha, when another friend joined us, we unexpectedly ordered a fish taco — the pork is great, but honestly, the fish taco I had that day was my personal top pick.

Fried fish in a tortilla, plus salsa and sour cream sauce — that's it, but the fish is seasoned so well, genuinely delicious fried fish, sweet enough to eat on its own haha. Next time I go back to Teolbone, the famous taco spot near Konkuk University Station, I'm starting straight off with the fish taco to grease the wheels. This one is seriously killer.

The number of beer bottles and drinks on the table grew right along with our party size haha. Guess it's time to order more.

Chili fries, ₩8,000

This one's the chili fries. Nicely fried fries, easy to pair with beer, topped with the secret weapon of this Gwangjin-gu taco bar — chili sauce and ragù-like ground meat.

And baked beans too — every combination worked so well, making it a light and easy drinking snack haha. Still hungry, and missing this long-awaited Teolbone Taco so much, we ordered even more while we were at it — including a quesadilla.

And wait, haha, a taco place serving on ceramic plates? Fine china, even? I thought that was such a unique touch, and now it's really starting to feel like a charm point haha.

The outside is slightly crispy while the inside is thick and gooey, getting moister the more you eat it, kind of like a Chips Ahoy cookie haha. The cheese stretches and is nicely salty — clearly they're skilled at quesadillas too. And the kicker is the melted cheddar or gouda they pour on top — putting that on and taking a bite delivers a rich, savory, deliciously heavy hit!!! It's basically a cheese bomb explosion hahahahahaha. What's next, should I order the fajitas now?

Loaded Doritos, ₩8,800

Too full for fajitas, so I tried the 'loaded doritos' instead. Haha, ordered without much expectation, but do you see the onions? These cold onions with what feels like chilled doritos? Wow, meeting it, I felt more of a cold dorito flavor than a warm one haha.

It's a dorito flavor I haven't had anywhere else, which makes it even more memorable, and it made for a charming closing dish at Teolbone Taco. Ah... I should've had hangover ramen before leaving, ugh.

But seriously, even the doritos alone are on a different level... you really have to try it to understand. It's not just salty like that (if that's all it was, might as well eat doritos at home) — the sweet-savory sauce combo on top is next-level haha.

The restroom is outside the shop, but it's kept reasonably clean, so no need to worry about going in.

Is Teolbone Taco worth a trip to Jayang-dong? Final verdict

And now, as darkness settles over the back alleys of Konkuk, this taco bar shines bright once again. I'm genuinely grateful they safely reopened in Konkuk, and I really hope everyone gives it a visit. Honestly, I want to give it a permanent spot in some sort of hall of fame on my blog — if you're looking for a great taco place near Seongsu-dong, this is it, no question. Welcome back, boss.
