Now that mornings and evenings are starting to cool down, don't you just crave a hot bowl of soup? This time I wanted a hearty meal in Hwajeong, so I went to Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch.

Above all, it's open 24 hours, so it's easy to drop by for lunch, dinner, or even late at night without any worries.

The weather was so nice that day that we went for lunch to have sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) set and rib soup. Parking isn't hard either — the easiest is the public lot in front of the restaurant, or the Deogyang-gu Office parking lot across the street.

Inside Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch and how to order your gukbap

The interior of Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch was clean and comfortable for a meal. It felt easy to stop in alone for a bowl of gukbap (soup with rice), or to come for a hearty meal whenever you needed one. Looking at the menu, there was a wide range of hot soup dishes, from sundae-guk to the set meal to rib soup.
What I especially liked was that sundae-guk lets you choose sundae only, meat only, or mixed, depending on your taste🤍 (my husband gets sundae-only) I like both sundae and meat, so I always order mixed as usual, and this time was no exception — mixed without hesitation! Once you place your order, the side dishes come out first, and just seeing them made my mouth water already.

I couldn't even imagine how good it would taste......👀

When are sundae refills unlimited at Pyeongando Restaurant Hwajeong Branch?
And here's the special thing about Pyeongando — unlimited sundae refills!!!! During lunch and dinner peak hours, they give you unlimited sundae for whenever you're feeling hungry.
Isn't that amazing? You can eat as much of the side dishes as you like too, so let's eat our fill and not leave anything, deal? Deal🤍
What comes with the sundae-guk set: pyeonyuk and sundae

The sundae-guk set I ordered comes with pyeonyuk (boiled sliced meat) and sundae alongside the soup. Honestly, this pyeonyuk was more delicious than I expected — no gamey smell, savory yet chewy and tender, tasty even on its own.

Adding onion with ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and salted shrimp made it even better! And finally, the hot sundae-guk arrives!
When the sundae-guk comes, adding perilla powder and chives first is the golden rule! Please add a really generous amount of perilla powder....🤍
The sundae-guk was really hearty, packed full of ingredients! Not just sundae but plenty of meat too, so every spoonful kept bringing up more.
It didn't feel like a soup that's mostly broth — it felt like a proper full bowl, and after mixing in rice at the end, I was really full and satisfied. If you like both sundae and meat, ordering mixed like I did lets you enjoy a bit of everything in one bowl, which I think makes it even more satisfying.
Ppyeodagwi haejangguk: slow-simmered pork rib soup, soft and savory

The rib soup we also ordered was really delicious!! It felt like it had been simmered for a long time — the meat came off the bones really easily, and it wasn't dry at all, staying moist and savory.
The broth wasn't the kind of tongue-numbingly spicy heat — it was savory at its base with just a touch of spice added, so it was easy to keep spooning up without feeling weighed down.
And here's my personal tip — definitely add the perilla powder. Adding it deepens the flavor of a broth that's already savory, making it noticeably better, ㅠ,ㅜ. I'm obsessed with rib soup... that's me...🤍 The flavor really goes up up up... picking off the tender meat and eating it with the broth, then finishing with rice mixed in, filled me up warmly right to the core.
