It's near Lotte Department Store and Incheon Terminal Station, and about a 7-minute walk from Yesulhoegwan Station, so it's easy to reach by public transit!

The clean yet cozy exterior caught my eye right away. It's open every day from lunchtime until 3am, so it's great for late-night visits too. They're famous for raw shrimp sashimi and salt-grilled king shrimp, with a big poster advertising it, and they had autumn gizzard shad too — perfect for seasonal seafood 👍

Since it's a live-fish sashimi specialist, there's a big fish tank too 🌊 The entrance is split into a front door and a back door, so either way is convenient!

How big is the restaurant, and can it take groups?

The interior felt clean and comfortable, and it was bigger than I expected. It seats over 200 people, with seating split across several sections, so it works well whether you're a small group or a big party.

I loved the variety of seating, from outdoor-tent-style tables to sofa seats. You order at the kiosk and pay at the counter. Naver reservations are available too, so for family gatherings or work dinners with a lot of people, booking ahead makes things a lot easier~

Free ramyeon, sujebi and kimchi pancake at the self-bar

At the self-bar you can grab extra side dishes plus self-serve kimchi pancake (kimchijeon), ramyeon, and sujebi (hand-torn dough soup). Free ramyeon and sujebi — such a generous place 🤭

They're thoughtful about service too, right down to dessert ice cream and coffee~

Menu lineup and the 13,900 won lunch special

Veteran General Fish Market is a live-fish sashimi specialist. Flounder, mullet, marbled flounder, sekkoshi (bone-in thin-sliced fish), red sea bream and more are available a la carte, as an assorted platter, or as a set, and there's a wide range of seasonal seafood too, like live squid and salt-grilled king shrimp and raw shrimp sashimi. The lunch special hoe-jeongsik (sashimi set meal) is ₩13,900 per person and comes with sashimi, sushi, fried food, and spicy fish stew, so it's great for a lunch visit too~

What comes in the couple set for two?

I ordered the couple set, which is perfect for two people. Assorted sashimi is the main dish, but it comes with a wide variety of basic side dishes plus sushi, fried food, and spicy fish stew, so you get to enjoy seafood generously 👍

The side dishes were incredibly varied! There are more side dishes like wrap vegetables at the self-bar too, so be sure to check it out~

The sushi lineup seems to change day by day. The day I went, they served salmon sashimi and live-fish sashimi as sushi, which was great for a carb boost before the sashimi 👍

The fried food came in a hugely generous portion too. Shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and sweet potato tempura — it seemed handmade! Crispy outside, tender inside, and delicious 👏

Six kinds of sashimi on the platter, changing by the day

Here's the main dish — the assorted sashimi platter!! It came with flounder, marbled flounder, marbled flounder belly, salmon, yellowtail, and red sea bream, and the lineup seems to change day by day.

The slices were just the right thickness. The sashimi was fresh enough to enjoy with just soy sauce, but it was even better with pollack roe, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), and wrap vegetables on the side 🤭👍

I finished with the spicy and refreshing fish stew. Having everything from sashimi to spicy stew in one set was so satisfying 👍 If you want to focus on sashimi, go a la carte; if you want a variety of food, I'd recommend the set~
