Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a sashimi restaurant in Guwol-dong, located at 22 Inha-ro 507beon-gil, 102-ho, Namdong-gu, Incheon. It's open from 11:00 to 03:00, with last order at 02:00, and you can park at the nearby public parking lot. The restroom is tucked just off the main area but stays pretty clean, and phone reservations are possible.

I always passed by this Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant without stopping in. I was craving sashimi again after a while, so I searched around and found this place had lots of reviews and good ratings — so I finally visited!!

Fresh live fish swimming in the tank. When a restaurant's fish tank is this lively, that usually means good turnover, haha.

What the dining room and seating are like

The inside of Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is really spacious. The restroom is close by too (fairly clean) — I loved that. What I liked most was the big tables that can seat lots of guests.

Ordering the 45,000 won sea bream and flounder set for two

The menu is genuinely huge. It's gaejeoli (fall gizzard shad) season right now — they sell it grilled and raw too! There's nothing this place doesn't have. What I liked most was that they sell assorted sashimi platters at a good price, haha. I ordered the sea bream and flounder set for two!

Basic side dishes are provided, and if you need more, you can just grab them yourself from the self-serve bar. The lettuce wraps looked pretty fresh, and they'll give you extra cheongyang chili peppers if you ask.

The highlight: the self-serve kimchi pancake station

And here's the highlight!!! You can make your own kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) at a self-serve station. The best part is it's not just okay kimchijeon — it's genuinely delicious kimchijeon, hahaha.

You make the kimchi pancake yourself~ It's hilarious that they basically dare you to show off a thin, crispy technique, hahahaha. It seemed like the other guests were secretly enjoying showing off their skills too (that's me).

I flipped it myself, haha. Pretty good, right? Honestly I messed up the first try...

Side dishes: grilled saury and myeongnan (salted pollack roe)

These are the side dishes they bring out first. The lettuce wraps and kimchi pancake were the only things I got myself.

And then grilled saury..!!! This grilled saury is a wonder — genuinely delicious. How is this...free?!! Perfectly crisped and cooked through, the meat came off the bone so easily!!

How much sashimi do you get in the set for two?

The set for two arrived~ Isn't the plating gorgeous! Nice touch laying it on ice to keep it cold. The slices were thick too, exactly the size I like. That said, if you're someone who really eats a lot of sashimi, order for three — the portion for two runs a little short, so you might have to pace yourself. Treasure every bite of that sashimi... precious.

The unexpected star among the sides was the pollack roe... wait, they give you pollack roe too?!!!! This is exactly why everyone calls this place 'Veteran'!!!! Make sure you try the pollack roe sauce among the sides. Wrap it up together in a lettuce leaf. Insanely good.

I'm losing it!!! Get it in your mouth fast!!!!! The seaweed soup was so good too...

The 45,000 won spread and the best way to order it

Ta-da~ here's the whole spread. Look how much food there is, right? Happiness for ₩45,000... four bottles of soju just vanish like magic.

Sea bream + pollack roe + white kimchi + cheongyang chili. Insane combo!!! It was so good I just kept going without thinking!!!!

Seaweed + white kimchi + flounder combo. Couldn't resist this one either... genuinely so delicious. No words needed.

Two abalone from the review event

Halfway through, I was craving something crunchy — and then, out of nowhere, two abalone from the review event?!!!!!! Wow. They give you abalone just for reviewing??? Amazing 👍 You choose between dried persimmon, abalone, or fried shrimp. Abalone was the obvious choice.

Crunchy and fresh abalone... I devoured every bit of it happily. Such a happy meal at Veteran General Fish Market Guwol Branch. I'd tell everyone to visit at least once!!!! A place that even throws in abalone for a review — that's Veteran General Fish Market Guwol Branch for you~!!!
