I was looking for a place to eat in Guwol-dong, Incheon and wanted something different from my usual, so I went to Haemokjeong. With braised pork ribs, the sauce matters but so does whether the meat is tough, and how spicy and salty it is — I wanted to check that out and leave an honest review 😊
What is the restaurant like inside? A white-toned space with group tables
Walking into Haemokjeong Guwol Branch, the white-toned space is spacious and the tables have plenty of room between them. Everything felt neatly arranged and comfortable for dining, and beyond regular tables there's seating set up for group parties.
The layout especially works well for group gatherings, so I thought it'd be great for a family meal out or a get-together with friends!

Excluding sets, the overall price range at Haemokjeong Guwol Branch runs ₩35,000 to ₩48,000, and this time I ordered the spicy braised pork ribs (매콤돼지갈비찜) for ₩35,000.
You can check the whole menu and order right from the table, which is convenient, and I ordered the spicy braised pork ribs I'd been most curious about 🤎 Looking through the menu, there's also boneless braised monkfish, seafood hot pot, seafood braised ribs, and more — a nice range of options!
They brought out squid seaweed soup as a basic side dish, and the clean, savory broth was impressive. The chewy squid texture blended nicely with the seaweed for a refreshing taste. Most of the menu is on the spicy side, so it's perfect for cooling things down in between.
How spicy are Haemokjeong's braised pork ribs, and how do they taste?
The spicy braised pork ribs, stir-fried in Haemokjeong's special sauce, came loaded with all kinds of vegetables along with the ribs, so there was fun in picking through everything 😊
I tried the ribs first since that's what I was most curious about, and the meat was soft and easy to eat without any toughness! The sauce leaned more sweet than purely spicy — at first I thought 'this is better than I expected,' but then the heat started creeping up little by little.
It's delicious wrapped with perilla leaves or paired with white kimchi — a combination I keep thinking about. (The tender meat is legendary.) If you like spicy food, this will really satisfy, but it's worth being careful about choosing your spice level!

The crispy shrimp tempura went really well with the spicy sauce. The layers in the batter were especially nice — good enough that I wanted to order it on its own 🤎
Finishing with self-serve snow cheese fried rice
The braised rib sauce was so good I didn't want it to end, but of course you have to finish with fried rice! At Haemokjeong I debated between self-made fried rice and extra noodles, and went with fried rice including snow cheese 🤎 They added flying fish roe for extra savoriness.
One bite in and I understood why this is a well-known spot in Guwol-dong. Spicy sauce and soft cheese together in one bite — a fried rice that kept me reaching for more.
