Friday ogyeopsal dinner at Neolpanji, a Pohang BBQ spot by Yeongildae

Today my work bestie and I headed out for Friday-night fun 🍺🍺🍺 to Yeongildae Beach, one of Pohang's hottest spots. I mean, Yeongildae is basically THE place in Pohang, so of course we had to go on a Friday~! lolllll

I heard there's a pork-belly sanctuary for office workers right by Yeongildae Beach, perfect for get-togethers and dates alike, so I went to check out [Neolpanji Yeongildae] — here's my honest review!! 😃

Where is Neolpanji Pohang Yeongildae Branch, and when is it open?

How to walk to Neolpanji from Yeongildae Beach

Neolpanji is a 2-minute walk from Yeongildae Beach, right next to the shore. Parking was possible along the roadside by the beach, and there's a public parking lot nearby too, so parking wasn't hard at all 🅿️

We clocked out early on Friday and rushed over, arriving around 5:30, and before long the place was completely full,, if you're planning a weekend visit, reservations are a must 🫠

Inside Neolpanji: seating, mood and the side dish spread

The interior was TOP ❗ among local restaurants. It felt like an old, well-worn place with real character, but overall super clean. Not a speck of dust on the floor or tables either. There was a uniform hanging on one side of the shop, and soccer happened to be playing on the TV ⚽ — a guess (?) that it's the owner's taste haha

They had makchang, samgyeopsal, and ogyeopsal, and note that on your first order you need at least 3 servings, not counting pork skin ⭐

Ordering was easy with the tablet PC set up at each table haha

For side dishes, they gave us a nice variety: seasoned green onion salad, dried radish, wrapping vegetables, bean sprouts to grill, bracken fern, and more haha

You can't have meat + Friday night without alcohol🍻 Watching her pour it so smoothly..🫶 just looking at it feels refreshing~

How were the three servings of ogyeopsal and the doenjang jjigae?

We ordered 3 servings of ogyeopsal 😉 Watching the meat turn golden brown — looking at this photo again while writing this post is making me want it all over again😂

The meat had zero gamey smell, and the flavor was savory and incredibly rich!! Since it was ogyeopsal, the skin was chewy and springy too, so delicious 😋

You can't skip doenjang jjigae when eating meat. It had a thick, rich consistency, which made it even tastier. You could down a whole bottle of soju with just the stew~ lol

After eating, we took a walk along Yeongildae Beach 🚶➡️🚶➡️ With the weather cooling down lately, walking like this helped digestion and set such a nice mood💞 Neolpanji is close to the ocean, which I love, and it's perfect for get-togethers or dates too, so I think I'll want to come back often haha. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a Friday night 🤍 Officially a must-visit BBQ spot near Yeongildae 👌
