Jukdo Market mulhoe and seafood ramyeon in Pohang: Gallilli Daegae
In short
Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a snow crab and live-fish sashimi restaurant in Jukdo Market, Pohang, run for more than 30 years across two generations of seafood wholesalers and retailers. The Bakdal snow crab set for two came as a course: flounder mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) to start, a sea bream and flounder sashimi platter, meat-packed Bakdal snow crab, then seafood ramyeon. Opening with mulhoe and closing with the hot ramyeon broth made Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang an easy recommendation for eating crab and sashimi in one sitting at Jukdo Market.

When planning a trip to Pohang, fresh seafood and properly steamed crab are non-negotiable items on the itinerary. I went looking for a restaurant in Jukdo Market, Pohang's historic traditional market, that has stuck to fair pricing and freshness through more than 30 years of wholesale and retail seafood business across two generations.

Here's my writeup of Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang, a Jukdo Market favorite in Pohang where you can enjoy a full course of high-yield crab, neat wild-caught sashimi, and refreshing mulhoe.

What Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang looks like inside, and seating for groups
Stepping inside Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang, you're met with a spacious, neatly arranged hall and private-feeling seating.

The standing-table seating comfortably accommodates everything from a small party of two to group gatherings of up to 150, making it a fine choice for family gatherings or group meals for traveling parties.

That day I ordered the Bakdal snow crab set for two, known for its high meat yield, and worked through a full course of sashimi platter, mulhoe, and seafood ramyeon.

Flounder mulhoe: the tangy, ice-cold starter
First out was a refreshing mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) piled high with fresh flounder sashimi. Mixing it thoroughly with the special broth topped with a layer of fine ice, one spoonful showed off the flounder's chewy, dense texture alongside crisp vegetables in great harmony. Without any harsh sourness, the clean, spicy-sweet umami got my appetite going — a perfect starter dish 😋

With a hearty set that runs from mulhoe through crab to seafood ramyeon, I'd recommend it as a way to fully taste the flavors of the Pohang sea.

Crab review

Sea bream and flounder sashimi platter with Bakdal snow crab
The sashimi platter, made up of thickly sliced sea bream and flounder, carried the freshness of the sea through completely. The sea bream stood out for its firm chewiness and the clean sweetness that builds the more you chew, while the flounder was dense and nutty without any fishiness — great dipped lightly in wasabi soy sauce to savor its natural flavor.
The Bakdal snow crab came out already trimmed by section for easy eating after steaming, with the legs, claws, and body all packed solid with meat.

It wasn't salty at all — clean and mild, with the crab's characteristic sweet umami lingering throughout, and dipping the meat into the rich, nutty crab tomalley (the innards in the shell) really brought out the depth of flavor.

Seafood ramyeon to finish the crab set
Wrapping up the meal, the seafood ramyeon was loaded with fresh seafood, giving the broth an exceptional depth. The noodles stayed springy, and the spicy yet clean seafood broth reset my stomach nicely after the crab feast, letting me finish every last drop with satisfaction.

If you're looking for honest weighing, high-yield Bakdal snow crab, and fresh wild-caught sashimi at Jukdo Market in Pohang, Gallilli Daegae Hoe Sikdang is a trustworthy choice.
