Seoul Square gyukatsu restaurant, SET1 combo for two: Furato Shokudo
In short
Furato Shokudo Seoul Square Direct Store is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant on basement level 1 of Seoul Square by Seoul Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Visiting as a pair, the writer ordered SET1 (44,000 won for two pieces of gyukatsu or steki plus two drinks) and picked one gyukatsu and one steki, grilling each piece on a personal tabletop brazier and switching between salt and several sauces. The side dishes at Furato Shokudo were simple, but that kept the focus on tender main-course beef worth coming back for.

A Seoul Station favorite, Furato Shokudo Seoul Square — a SET1 gyukatsu and steki tabletop-grill review. I had an appointment near Seoul Station and went looking for somewhere to eat, which is how I ended up at the Furato Shokudo Seoul Square branch.

There's no shortage of restaurants around Seoul Station, but I was curious about gyukatsu you grill yourself on a brazier, so I chose this place. Once inside, most of the customers looked like they were in their 20s and 30s — clearly a spot people pick for lunch or dates. But what I remember most is the meat!
Crispy on the outside and moist inside, the gyukatsu and the soft steki were grilled right at the table on individual braziers, so every last bite stayed warm and delicious.

Seoul Square houses all kinds of restaurants, and among them, Furato Shokudo is a popular pick for anyone craving gyukatsu. When I visited, there were plenty of young customers, giving the place a lively feel.

Furato Shokudo menu: from gyukatsu to omurice
When you think of Furato Shokudo, gyukatsu and steki are the first things that come to mind.

Beyond that, they also serve Japanese-style omurice, Yamagata minchi curry, rice bowls, udon, and more.

If you're going with a group, the set menus seem like a solid option.
- SET1 44,000 won — 2 pieces of gyukatsu or steki + 2 drinks
- SET2 38,000 won — gyukatsu or steki + rice bowl + 2 drinks
- SET3 59,000 won — 2 pieces of gyukatsu or steki + rice bowl + 3 drinks
Since we wanted to try both types of meat, we went with SET1.
Why gyukatsu is the most popular dish at Furato Shokudo
If it's your first visit, the gyukatsu is what catches your eye right away.

Unlike regular pork cutlet, it comes with a crispy fried coating on the outside while the inside stays reddish and rare. This is where the fun of Furato Shokudo begins — you place each piece on your own tabletop brazier and grill it to your liking.
Even in photos, you can see how thick the cut is and how vivid the red center looks. Rather than grilling too much at once, it's better to place just a few pieces at a time and eat them fresh off the fire.
What comes with SET1: one gyukatsu, one steki, two drinks

We ordered SET1 for 43,000 won that day. SET1 lets you pick two items from gyukatsu or steki, plus it comes with two drinks. There was no need to overthink it — we went with one gyukatsu and one steki.

A perfect combination for us since we wanted to try both! The gyukatsu came with rice, soup, and cabbage, and the steki also came with rice and soup, making for a filling meal.

As you can see in the photo, salt and various sauces were set out separately, so I could enjoy the meat with a slightly different flavor each time. Since you get to try both gyukatsu and steki, I think SET1 is a good pick for two people visiting for the first time.
How the beef tasted, grilled at the table with salt and sauces
What satisfied me most at Furato Shokudo was how tender the meat was.
The gyukatsu was crispy outside and remarkably moist inside. Grilling it piece by piece on the brazier meant it sizzled right before eating, and freshly grilled meat like that stayed warm with the juices still coming through.
The steki was equally tender. Grilling it a bit longer on the brazier brought out a nutty aroma, and I liked being able to adjust the doneness to my taste. A light dip in salt let the meat's natural flavor shine, while a touch of wasabi made it taste clean and refreshing.

Honestly, the basic side dishes weren't a lavish spread. But eating through the meal, I actually thought that worked in its favor — instead of too many sides pulling your attention, the setup kept the focus on the main event: gyukatsu and steki. The crispness of the gyukatsu against the softness of the steki made switching between the two genuinely fun.
Final verdict on Furato Shokudo Seoul Square for two
If you're looking for something a bit different around Seoul Station, Furato Shokudo is worth a visit.
What I liked most was the fun of grilling the meat myself on a personal brazier, adjusting it to exactly the doneness I wanted and eating it right away.
When I visited, most of the customers were in their 20s and 30s, so it felt like a good spot for a meal with friends or a date. The basic side dishes were relatively simple, but that meant more focus on the meat, and both the gyukatsu and steki turned out more tender than I expected — very satisfying. Especially for two people, I'd recommend the SET1 combination of one gyukatsu and one steki so you can try both.

Next time I have plans near Seoul Station, I'd love to come back and try the Japanese-style omurice I missed this time. If you're looking for a good gyukatsu spot near Seoul Station or a place to eat inside Seoul Square, give Furato Shokudo a try.
