It’s September, and autumn is suddenly right around the corner~ 🍂 On my way back from errands, I was craving something spicy, so I went to Bulnaneun Jjukkumi in Yuryang-dong for stir-fried jjukkumi (webfoot octopus). Spicy food with that fire-grilled flavor you just can’t make at home! There are lots of cafés nearby and parking is easy, so it’s perfect for making plans.
Parking and location at Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang
It’s at the entrance to Ujeong Human Resources Development Institute, in the direction of Taejosan Mountain. I drove there, and the parking lot was large, which was convenient. I went at lunchtime, but it wasn’t full. Easy to find too—nice.

Large parking lot
You can come with a group, too. With spacious seating and plenty of parking, it’s great for a lunchtime get-together with friends. No parking stress thanks to that big lot—so good~! Even new drivers will have plenty of room to park, haha.

The delicious smell starts right at the entrance~

A tidy restaurant with private group rooms
Tidy interior, private group rooms, great for family gatherings or work dinners
The restaurant is spacious and has private rooms for groups. It seemed like a nice option for family gatherings or company dinners, too. The tables were tidy, and I was happy that the food came out without a long wait after ordering.

Ordering the medium-spicy jjukkumi pot-rice set
Pot-rice stir-fried webfoot octopus + 2 fried shrimp, ₩17,000
There are set menus and pork cutlet, too. If I came with a child, I’d order pork cutlet for them and jjukkumi for the adults. Today, I ordered two servings of the stir-fry set at the medium spice level. I loved that the heat could be adjusted.
The medium level was a little spicier than Shin Ramyun. There were other menu choices, but looking at the amount of jjukkumi, the standard menu was just right for me. I also saw lots of people ordering perilla seed kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup).

Self-service bar and side dishes
At the self-service bar, you can bring back the side dishes that come with the meal. There’s cabbage and sauce too, so drizzle some on and enjoy.

The side dishes were seasoned cabbage, bean sprouts, fresh radish salad, chilled seaweed soup, and lettuce. You can add them when you mix the jjukkumi stir-fry into your rice. There was a separate refill zone, so we brought back more of the seasoned cabbage~ With vegetables included, it’s a wholesome spread.

Fire-grilled jjukkumi and scorched rice from the pot
The main jjukkumi dish had such a strong fire-grilled aroma that it instantly got my appetite going. I’d been doing focused work that morning and was a little tired, but seeing something spicy perked me right up~! I ordered medium, and it was nicely spicy. I’m a bit of a lightweight with spice, but it was delicious. The seasoning had soaked into the jjukkumi well, and above all, it was cooked just right—not tough at all. The savory flavor was exploding! Just what you’d expect from a great Cheonan jjukkumi spot! It was bustling at lunchtime too.

Pot rice is included, so you can make nurungji (crispy scorched rice) too. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but I’ve really come to love pot rice. I love nurungji so much too~ The day was cloudy, so that warm nurungji went down even more easily~ My chilled seaweed soup never tastes good when I make it, but having it here, it was pleasantly tangy and tasty! The whole spread came out, so I hurried to snap a photo before eating. Generous, right?
The fried shrimp included in the set were a special treat too. Be sure to try them as soon as they arrive~ They’re warm, crisp, and delicious. As soon as it came out, I mixed the jjukkumi into my rice and ate it. I was enjoying it so much that I don’t have a photo of the mixed rice, but... the rice was black rice, which made it even better! It’s the kind of place I’d want to revisit whenever I get a regular craving for spice. The seafood pajeon (green-onion pancake) looked delicious too.

Post-meal instant coffee on the terrace
After finishing the meal, I sat on the restaurant terrace and had a cup of instant coffee. You can also have instant coffee inside as a dessert. There are lots of trees around, making it just right for sitting and digesting after eating~ Get some fresh air and visit Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch (불나는쭈꾸미 유량직영점), a tasty spicy-jjukkumi lunch spot in Yuryang-dong~ 👍
