It's honestly hard to pick a real meal near Hwajeong Station sometimes. This time I went to Min Cook Misoyaki, a Hwajeong Station rice spot where you can get grilled fish and pork katsu in one sitting!
The staff were kind and the restaurant had a cozy, comfortable vibe — I ate until I was stuffed, and here's the detailed review :)
Parking info for Min Cook Misoyaki near Hwajeong Station

First off, Min Cook Misoyaki does not offer free parking support! So you'll need to park at a nearby public or paid parking lot before visiting~!

Right in front of the entrance there was a sign marking a Korean Master Chef designation, which already made it feel like it was going to be delicious haha

There was also a menu board out front, so it was nice to be able to check what's on offer before going in~!
I was there for the grilled fish, so I went in with high expectations
A cozy, comfortable interior

Min Cook Misoyaki is a compact restaurant with bar seating and 2-person tables lined up on either side. The atmosphere was cozy and very comfortable for eating haha

There's a QR code at every seat, so you scan it to browse the menu and place your order. There were reference photos too, so it was easy to pick what to order!
Why I recommend Min Cook Misoyaki as a Hwajeong Station rice spot: taste and portion

Once you order, they immediately serve a complimentary egg porridge — and it was such a nutty, soft little delicacy?
My mood was already lifted before the main meal even arrived!

Menu: Inari sushi (2pcs) / Price: ₩3,000. Next came the inari sushi we'd added as a side.

The rice was tucked neatly inside the fried tofu pouch with nothing spilling out, so it was easy to eat cleanly!
Sweet and tangy — perfect as an appetizer

The basic side dishes and soybean paste soup were clean and light, perfect alongside the mains haha

And here's today's full spread at Min Cook Misoyaki~! This generous visual is exactly why I recommend it as a Hwajeong Station rice spot lol

Both the grilled fish and the katsu had seriously generous portions!!!

Menu: Handmade fried shrimp (3 pieces) / Price: ₩3,900. We ordered fried shrimp as a side, but it turns out the katsu comes with one piece of fried shrimp included by default??

So we ended up with 4 fried shrimp total, and they were completely crispy outside and warm and moist inside — such a happy taste...
Pork katsu (2 pieces), ₩15,000

Menu: Pork katsu (2 pieces) / Price: ₩15,000. Next up, the extremely generous katsu!!!

The meat was thick and the portion was big — way better value than most jumbo katsu places.

A total must-order among Min Cook Misoyaki's Hwajeong Station menu!!
You can also choose between 1 piece or 2 pieces of katsu, so you can pick the amount that suits how hungry you are that day — good good
What makes the miso-grilled fish different?

Menu: Extra-large grilled miso mackerel, whole / Price: ₩15,900. This time, Min Cook Misoyaki's signature dish — the miso-grilled fish!!! First they squeeze lemon juice evenly over the fish, then
you pull out the bones and start digging into the plump mackerel! Maybe because it's aged in soybean paste before grilling, the flesh was so tender and soft that the bones came out easily.
Just look at that moist, plump flesh... a visual that makes you crave rice just looking at it ㅠㅠㅠ a total rice thief, that thing
I especially love mackerel skin, and eating the crispy-grilled skin together with the moist flesh underneath — there's no better premium side dish for rice lol I really inhaled it!!
What stuck with me most from Min Cook Misoyaki was definitely the extra-large grilled miso mackerel. At first I wondered, 'won't aging fish in soybean paste make it taste really strong of miso?' But once I tried it, there was almost no miso aroma at all — just tender, nutty mackerel flesh that everyone would like!

True to being labeled extra-large, the portion was really generous, and eating the grilled fish alongside the katsu gave two totally different flavors, so the rice kept disappearing lol
If you're looking for a Hwajeong Station rice spot that goes beyond an ordinary meal — somewhere you can eat a hearty combination of grilled fish and katsu — I definitely recommend Min Cook Misoyaki!!!
