12-piece assorted sushi lunch at a Hwajeong sushi restaurant: Min Cook

I was looking for somewhere to eat sushi for lunch near Hwajeong Station and ended up at Min Cook Dasima! Especially since they run a lunch special menu you can order until 2:30 PM on weekdays, and the discount was bigger than I expected 😮 They also support free parking, so it's a great pick for anyone looking for a Hwajeong Station restaurant with a solid lunch discount and quality Japanese food.

Where is Min Cook Dasima? Second floor of Jinsol Plaza, Hwajeong

Min Cook Dasima is on the 2nd floor of the building! You go in through the entrance of Jinsol Plaza and head up the stairs to the 2nd floor,

and the store entrance is right at the very back. At first the floor directory didn't seem to show Min Cook Dasima on the 2nd floor, so I wondered if I'd come to the wrong place… but once I got up there, it turned out I was in the right spot haha

The interior was way more spacious and pleasant than I expected! Maybe because the ceilings are high, it felt even more comfortable haha. The tables were spaced out nicely too 👍

Near the entrance there was also a self-service corner, where you could grab sauces or tableware yourself!

Ordering by QR code at Min Cook Dasima

Once we sat down, we could check the menu and order using a QR code. It was convenient being able to look at photos and prices right on my phone.

From full set meals to a la carte sushi to noodle dishes like soba, the menu was varied enough that I spent a while deciding what to get.

Especially if you're visiting on a weekday for lunch like we did, I'd recommend checking the lunch discount special menu first!!

Which menus get the Hwajeong Station lunch discount?

The sushi set that's normally 25,000 won gets discounted to 19,500 won, a full 5,500 won off, and the special sushi set that's normally 30,000 won drops to 25,000 won, 5,000 won off!! Ordering the lunch special was clearly the way to go?! We picked the soba sushi set and got 3,000 won off haha

And while the special assorted sushi didn't have its own separate lunch discount, the composition looked so good we picked one anyway.

The egg porridge starter at Min Cook Dasima

Before our ordered menu items arrived, we were served egg porridge first. It was warm and soft with a nutty flavor on top, which was great for whetting the appetite 🥰

Soba sushi set on lunch discount, 15,000 won

About 10 minutes later, the main dishes showed up! First, the soba sushi set we ordered from the lunch special came with cold buckwheat noodles (pan-memil), tempura, and sushi 4pcs❤

The soba was topped with dried seaweed flakes and green onion, and the sushi served alongside came in a nice variety, so it was fun picking and choosing what to eat.

Plus, being able to have tempura along with everything made it a pretty filling meal.

I always like trying a variety of things when I eat, so this set was totally my type!

The combo of sweet, refreshing cold soba, sushi that melts in your mouth, and crispy tempura — what more can I say,,,💖

The special assorted sushi we also ordered came out neatly arranged on a clear plate with a variety of sushi.

Salmon and tuna and other pieces in different colors blended together so nicely that I ended up taking photos right away haha

They say Min Cook Dasima's special assorted sushi is made with fish cuts chosen to pair well with sushi, and the composition can vary depending on the season and store conditions.

When we first ordered, the menu photo showed futomaki (thick sushi roll), but on the day we visited, we got 12 pieces of sushi instead of the futomaki.

I like sushi more than futomaki anyway, so total win for me hahaha

The sushi overall was incredibly fresh, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and no fishy taste at all, and the amount of rice was just right too.

Especially the inari sushi (fried tofu pocket sushi) was interesting because instead of the rice sticking out, the whole thing was wrapped in fried tofu. There was more tofu than rice, so you could really taste the tofu!

Parking: one hour free at E-mart Hwajeong

If you're driving, parking info might be useful too. We parked at the E-mart right across from the restaurant, and after our meal they registered 1 hour of free parking for us, so it was convenient.

Thanks to the weekday lunch discount, we got to enjoy the soba sushi set with even better value, and having the special assorted sushi alongside it let us enjoy the full range of Japanese food flavors — a really satisfying meal 👍
