Gyeongju Hwangnidang-gil restaurant closed Wednesdays: Midam Kitchen

Today I want to tell you about Midam Kitchen, a Western restaurant on Hwangnidang-gil that I visited during my Gyeongju trip! 🍝 I wanted good food in a nice atmosphere, so I went looking for a spot like that, and here's my honest review 🤎 Let's get into it!!!

+ A small tip from my Gyeongju trip! 🤎 While looking up restaurants and cafés in Gyeongju, I noticed a lot of them close on Wednesdays! Midam Kitchen is also closed every Wednesday, so make sure to check before you plan your schedule!!!

What the hanok exterior of Midam Kitchen looks like

The outside of Midam Kitchen was so pretty I couldn't just walk past it! 🤎 It has that hanok (traditional Korean house) feel you'd expect from Gyeongju, and you can tell every corner was carefully decorated...

Especially the warm, softly glowing lights and the pine trees that go so well with the hanok atmosphere 🌲✨ Little touches like these made me feel good before I even walked in!!!

There's a quiet, timeless mood you can only feel in Gyeongju, and the warm, cozy hanok feeling is so full-on... even the exterior alone had me thinking, 'I made the right choice coming here!'

Inside Midam Kitchen: tables, reserved seats, restroom and high chairs

Walking inside Midam Kitchen, I found way more tables than I expected. There are tables for 2, 4, and 6, so you can visit comfortably regardless of your group size! The spacing between tables was generous too, so we could eat comfortably!!

And Midam Kitchen also has separate reserved seating! It's an independent space apart from the regular tables, so you can enjoy a more private meal 🤎

But it's not closed off in a stuffy way either! There's a big window, so you can still look out at Midam Kitchen's pretty exterior while eating!!! 🌲✨

Baby chairs are also available, so if you need one, just ask a staff member! Aprons are self-serve!!

The restroom is inside the restaurant. Since they manage it themselves, it was clean and tidy!! That made it comfortable to use.

The side dish: house-made radish pickles

The basic side dish was house-made radish pickles and jalapeños! Since the pickles are made in-house, the crunchy texture was really nice!

Toowoomba pasta, 15,900 won — two shrimp in a spicy cream sauce

We ordered quattro cheese pizza, Toowoomba pasta, and lemonade! 🍕🍝🍋 We picked a solid lineup of Western dishes, with pizza and pasta both — let me introduce them one by one!!!

Toowoomba pasta (₩15,900) 🍝 The plating with two big shrimp on top immediately grabbed my attention!!! 🦐 With a spicy cream pasta topped with plump shrimp, it looked so appetizing... 🤤

The moment the food arrived, I thought, 'Wow, I really ordered the right thing!' ㅜㅜ...!

The shrimp on top were already prepped so the meat was easy to pick off! 🦐 Thanks to that, peeling the shell wasn't hard at all, and I could easily get all the shrimp meat out!

And besides the big shrimp on top, the pasta itself was packed with shrimp, zucchini, mushroom, onion, and more! 🍝 It really felt like they didn't skimp on ingredients...!!

Above all, the highlight of this Toowoomba pasta is the rich, spicy cream sauce! 🔥 The thick, spicy Toowoomba cream flavor was truly excellent! Definitely a must-order!!!!

Quattro cheese pizza, 18,900 won — rich cheese dipped in honey

Quattro cheese pizza (₩18,900) — the moment it arrived, the savory smell of cheese wafted over and got my appetite going before I'd even taken a bite!!!!! With cheese piled high and that nutty aroma, I wanted to dig in right away ㅜㅜ 🤤

For some reason it reminded me of gorgonzola! 🍕🧀 They served it with honey to dip it in, just like gorgonzola pizza 🍯 but when I tried it, it was even richer and cheesier than gorgonzola! 🧀🍕 True to its name, the quattro cheese pizza was loaded generously with four kinds of cheese, so every bite had a deep, rich cheese flavor... 🤤

If you love cheese pizza, you'll go crazy for this one!!! It was actually my boyfriend's top pick! 🤎

The lemonade we ordered alongside was so refreshing! 🍋🥤 Sweet and tangy with that distinct lemon zing, taking a sip between bites really cleaned up the palate!!!!

The free salad from the Naver reservation event

The salad we got from the Naver reservation event!!! 🥗💚 The vegetables were fresh and crisp all around!! With that crunchy texture and refreshing taste, I'd recommend it as a side dish to have between bites!!!

Amid all the rich, heavy dishes, the salad refreshed the palate, so we could enjoy everything cleanly right to the end! + There's also a salad on the menu by itself, so I'd recommend ordering it!

And once again, without fail, a totally empty-plate ending!!! 🤭 We finished every single dish without leaving a single bite behind! We enjoyed every menu item, fully satisfied 🤎 Isn't an empty plate the most honest review in front of delicious food? 😆!

Is Midam Kitchen at night a good date spot in Gyeongju?

After finishing our meal and cleaning our plates, we stepped outside to find that it had gotten dark, and somehow the restaurant looked even prettier than during the day 🌙✨ With the hanok's quiet charm and warm lighting added, the mood was... well, need I say more! 🥹✨ Really, really recommend it as a date or blind-date spot!!!!

Overall, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great, making it a great spot to visit when you want Western food in Gyeongju 🤎 Above all, with the hanok atmosphere and warm lighting, you can properly enjoy the mood while you eat, so I'd also recommend it as a date restaurant in Gyeongju! If you're looking for a Western restaurant with great atmosphere on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, Midam Kitchen might be worth a visit!
