Mangwon-dong Mexican bar seats and a ₩43,900 fajita platter: Taco Dot

Don't you sometimes get tired of eating the same kinds of food over and over? When that happens to me, I go for tacos — and there's a taco place I really like in Mangwon-dong, so I wanted to introduce it.

A 5pm weekend reservation at Taco Dot: full as soon as the doors opened

I visited Taco Dot Mangwon Market Main Branch with a reservation at 5pm on a weekend. I got there just before 5, but it hadn't opened yet, and by the time I went back around 5:05, it was already packed.

Even though it had been a while since I last came, Taco Dot is still just as popular and busy.

Drinks are self-serve at Taco Dot, draft beer included

Taco Dot runs on an order-and-carry-it-yourself system for drinks. There's no drinks menu posted, so people might not realize it, but they do sell draft beer.

I used to come here often when I lived in Mangwon-dong, and visiting again after a while, I noticed the interior had changed quite a bit.

What are the bar seats and tables like at Taco Dot?

Taco Dot has a main space, and a separate wood-interior room further inside. Inside that room there are 4-top tables, 2-top tables, and bar seats. There were so many people that I couldn't take many interior photos.

Grilled Meat Fajita Platter, ₩43,900

What I ordered was Taco Dot's grilled meat fajita platter, priced at ₩43,900. Since there were so many customers, it took a while for the food to come out.

The tortillas and sauces that come with the platter can be refilled.

The four meats on the fajita platter

The grilled meat fajita platter comes with pulled pork, chicken, shrimp, and carnitas (pork grilled almost like it's fried).

The shrimp was grilled in a slightly spicy chili seasoning.

This is the carnitas — I could pick up a hint of that yangkkochi (lamb skewer) seasoning flavor.

The chicken seemed to be grilled in a curry-style seasoning.

And this is the pulled pork.

Personally, out of everything on the platter, the shrimp was my favorite.

How the meats taste wrapped in a tortilla

With Taco Dot's fajita platter, you pile the meat and sauces onto tortillas however you like. First I tried shrimp with salsa and grilled onion on a tortilla.

Then meat with cilantro, spicy chili sauce, and sour cream.

And also pulled pork with salsa and grilled onion.

You can put together all sorts of combinations depending on your taste with Taco Dot's grilled meat platter.

What's changed at Taco Dot: the morning rolls are gone

When I visited before, the platter used to come with morning bread too, so you could stuff pulled pork and sauce into it and eat it like a burger. Now the platter doesn't come with morning bread anymore, which was a bit disappointing, but it was still delicious!
