I was looking for good eats near Cheonho Station and ended up at Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch! I went this day specifically craving proper pork belly haha🤣🤣 So I ordered pork belly for 5 people plus a loaded cheese egg soufflé, chadol doenjang stew (soybean paste stew with beef brisket), and self-fried rice, and ate my fill!

Out front there were outdoor tables and a menu board with photos of the meat, and stepping inside I noticed the aging chamber where the meat is stored🤭 Gim Sukseong is apparently known for cross-aged meat, using both dry-aging and wet-aging!

On the table, the grill was set along with side dishes and sauces to go with the meat. Seeing the table fill up before the meat even arrived got me excited😊

🥩 Pork belly for 5, grilled by the staff

Our main order was pork belly for 5 people! We put the meat and kimchi on the grill together and cooked them side by side.

A staff member grilled the meat for us, best best!!! Watching the pork belly turn golden brown made me want to grab a piece right away😁

The pork belly, cut into bite-sized pieces, went well with the vegetables served alongside! Eating it with the grilled kimchi after having just the meat gave it a whole different combo, you know~~

With the grill piled high with meat, it was also great for photos😆 A menu to remember for a day when you want a hearty pork belly meal at a Korean BBQ restaurant near Cheonho Station!

🧀 The loaded cheese egg soufflé that steals the table

The side dish we ordered with the pork belly was the loaded cheese egg soufflé. The egg soufflé rose up puffy over the earthenware bowl, topped with a generous heap of bonito flakes. It looked so different from the usual egg soufflé that I snapped a photo the moment it hit the table lol. A visual you just can't not photograph🤭🤭 Having warm egg soufflé between bites of meat added variety to the meal! If just ordering pork belly feels like it's not enough, this is a side dish worth considering too.

🍲 Chadol doenjang stew, the side you order with grilled pork

We also ordered chadol doenjang stew! There are moments while eating meat when you crave warm broth, and with the egg soufflé and doenjang stew added this day, the table felt even more full~~ I alternated between a piece of pork belly and a spoonful of stew😄 If you want to round out your meal alongside the meat, keep chadol doenjang stew in mind when picking your menu!

🍚 Full already? Finish with the self-fried rice

Even after pork belly for 5 plus the side dishes, we still ordered self-fried rice to finish! When you're at a Korean BBQ restaurant, it doesn't feel like a proper meal until you end with fried rice😂 Having fried rice after the meat made that evening's dinner really satisfying! I came for pork belly, but ended up leaving having had the egg soufflé, the doenjang stew, and the fried rice too, haha~~
