Cheonho hair salon magic straightening and tassel cut: Yume's Hair

I'd been going back and forth for a while on what to do with my hair, and eventually decided I just wanted it cleaned up properly. So I decided to get rid of my old perm entirely and transform into a tassel cut. While looking for a hair salon in Cheonho-dong, I found Yume's Hair Cheonho Branch and went for it. This time I was styled by designer Eunha :)

Where is Yume's Hair Cheonho Branch and how do you find it?

Yume's Hair Cheonho Branch is at 1F, 104-105, 1057 Cheonho-daero, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. Here's a tip! Once you're inside the building, press 1F in the elevator! The basement level is labeled 1F, and the actual 1st floor is labeled 2F!

The interior of Yume's Hair Cheonho Branch is overall white and beige tones, giving it a warm yet slightly modern feel, and the round counter in the middle was pretty too.

Personally, since a hair salon is a place you have to sit for a long time, the interior atmosphere matters a lot to me too — and Yume's Hair won me over from the first impression!

Why the consultation led to magic straightening plus a tassel cut

Once inside, I got a shampoo first and then had a 1:1 consultation with designer Eunha. After looking at my hair directly, she explained that since there was still an old perm remaining, it would be better to straighten it out first rather than just cutting, to properly achieve the tassel cut look I wanted.

I wanted to erase the traces of the old perm as cleanly as possible, and I also wanted that crisp, clean-cut feel that's unique to mid-length hair, so after the consultation we decided to go with magic straightening + tassel cut. Off to get my hair cut we go~

The magic straightening process for leftover vintage perm

Before the straightening, she trimmed my hair, then began the straightening treatment. Cutting off the round, curly leftover perm ✂️

Designer Eunha checked my hair's condition while already thinking ahead to the tassel cut she'd create. Chemical treatment applied before straightening, then heat perm.

While waiting, I enjoyed some hibiscus tea and chocolate cookies (the cookies are delicious!)

I didn't want my hair to end up looking unnaturally flat and pressed down from being over-straightened — I wanted it neat but still falling naturally, and it was great that we could talk through this level of detail during the consultation! After applying the straightening solution, she used rollers carefully so it wouldn't get pressed flat ⚡️

Something I noticed during the treatment: designer Eunha listened really carefully to my opinions from the consultation stage onward! Whenever I described the style I wanted, she'd explain how to get there from my current hair, which made me trust the process more even on a first visit.

How long does the magic straightening take?

Time at the hair salon tends to run longer than you'd think. Especially once straightening gets involved, there's a fair amount of sitting still — but chatting with designer Eunha along the way made the time pass faster than expected.

On a first visit to a new salon, you can sometimes end up sitting there awkwardly, but she kept the conversation comfortable and easy. Thanks to that, I didn't get bored even during the long treatment.

The scalp massage shampoo at Yume's Hair

If I had to pick the moment I remember most from this visit to Yume's Hair, it's the shampoo. While getting my hair washed I genuinely thought, 'Wow... they're really good at this...' haha

The person doing my shampoo pressed into my scalp, and since I personally love that firm, refreshing pressure during a salon shampoo, it felt amazing. She kept pressing firmly into my scalp and my eyes just slowly closed... it was basically paradise...

I went in for a haircut and left feeling like I'd gotten a scalp massage too. If you're someone who loves a good firm scalp press during shampoo at the salon, I think you'll be quite satisfied with this part.

This is exactly the look I wanted!!! Clean, calm mid-length hair + a crisp, clean-cut tassel style 💇‍♀️

Once the straightening smoothed out the overall texture and the tassel cut was finished, the whole vibe changed noticeably. Since a tassel cut is all about the line at the ends, I loved how cleanly the ends fell. And because it's mid-length, it's not too short or intimidating — this feels like a great style for anyone who wants to keep the length but change up the mood.

Comparing side by side, once the leftover perm was cleaned up, the whole silhouette looked so much neater. Most of all, I was satisfied that what I really wanted — removing the perm and switching to a clean mid-length style — actually worked out.

How to style a mid-length tassel cut

She showed me how to actually blow-dry it day-to-day after getting the tassel cut. Just add volume to the mid-section, then straighten the ends flat at the very end — done! Easy, right~?

*Just be careful not to press too hard on the ends, or you'll end up looking like a sea bream tail (jagalchi) fin.

I also got shampoo and treatment samples! She told me it's best to use them the next day. The scent was amazing…💗

Final verdict on Yume's Hair Cheonho Branch

What I liked most was that instead of just doing exactly what I asked for, she checked my hair's actual condition first and explained what treatment would actually get me closer to the style I wanted. If you're thinking about changing your style, I'd recommend getting a consultation first before deciding. I also really appreciated being able to chat comfortably with designer Eunha throughout the treatment.

If you're in Cheonho-dong and considering a mid-length tassel cut, or want to clean up an old perm into a neater style, I think Yume's Hair is worth a visit. Since it had been a while since I changed my hair this dramatically, I kept touching my hair the whole way home~! Hair transformation: total success ✨
