Cheonho Station Korean BBQ sides: minari noodles at Gim Sukseong

In short

Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Exit 6 of Cheonho Station in Gangdong, Seoul, where staff grill 20-day cross-aged Korean pork at the table. On a Saturday at 6pm, two friends ordered 2 servings of pork belly, minari bibim guksu (tangy cold noodles with water celery) and a real apple mango highball, and the thick pork belly came out full of juice. Between the pork and the sweet-and-sour minari noodles, Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch is worth a second visit.

I had some errands near Cheonho Station and got a craving for good pork belly, so while I was looking around I found out there's a place where the staff grill it for you! Spoiler alert: I loved it so much I'm already planning to go back soon haha. Here's my honest review of Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch, where literally everything we ordered was delicious.

Where is Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch, and is there parking?

  • Address: 서울 강동구 성내동 12-25

  • Parking: Available in front of the restaurant (nearby public lot if full)

This Cheonho Station pork belly spot, Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch, is located near Exit 6 of Cheonho Station! There's a bus stop nearby, and parking is available in front of the store too. Just note if there's no spot out front, you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. The doors were wide open, which looked perfect for weather like this, and the exterior itself was super hip. We visited around 6pm on a Saturday so it was still a bit bright out, but the lighting looked pretty enough that I bet it's even nicer after dark haha.

What is the interior like inside Gim Sukseong?

Stepping inside, it was full-on retro old-school tavern vibes!! So cool haha.

Turns out Gim Sukseong only uses the finest domestic Korean pork! They dry-age it for 4 days and wet-age it for 16 days, for 20 days of cross-aging total! I was excited even before eating haha. There's also a restroom inside the restaurant so you don't need to go looking elsewhere.

Menu and side dishes at Gim Sukseong Seongnae Branch

The main meats on the menu include pork belly, pork neck, and pork skirt, and there was also a wide variety of side dishes like seasoned crab over rice, perilla oil green onion noodles, minari bibim guksu, cold noodles, beef brisket doenjang stew, Korean pork kimchi stew, and crab ramyeon. I usually love pairing stew or noodles with grilled meat, so having so many options was great haha.

Plus, at lunchtime they even sell minari stir-fried pork, kimchi budae jeongol (army stew hot pot), and kimchi jjageul ramyeon at really reasonable prices... if I lived nearby I'd run over right away. We ended up ordering two servings of pork belly, a real apple mango highball, and minari bibim guksu.

What does the minari bibim guksu taste like?

I saw in reviews that everyone raved about the minari bibim guksu, so I decided to order it. Minari in bibim noodles? I'd never tried that combo before, so I was curious what it would taste like. They mixed it up nicely for us haha, and I took a bite. Wow, the sauce is insane lol. Tangy and sweet, exactly my style ㅠㅠㅠ and the combination of bibim guksu with minari was just... delicious!
