I was looking for a café in Anseong and found one with a really nice atmosphere, so I went to check it out. These days, when picking a café, I feel like the vibe you get while sitting there matters just as much as the taste. Especially if it's a place where you can enjoy music while eating bread, you end up staying longer instead of just grabbing a quick coffee and leaving!

This time I visited Chat Baker, a bakery café where you can also enjoy jazz, so the vibe was a bit different from a typical café. It was fun just looking around the space itself, not only the bread and drinks, so I took my time exploring.

The entrance was huge from the get-go. It kind of ambushes you the moment you walk up!

Interior space at Chat Baker built around a music concept

Overall the interior felt tasteful without being overly styled, so it was good for photos and also comfortable to actually sit and spend time in. The music playing in the café and the LP display didn't feel separate — they came together to shape one cohesive mood, which felt like a real point of difference from other bakery cafés.

It didn't feel like a café simply decorated to look pretty — the music concept felt naturally woven into every corner of the space. It was striking that the place takes its motif from trumpeter Chet Baker. That's probably why vinyl records were on display throughout — not just a few tossed on as decoration, but arranged in a way that anyone who loves music would want to stop and look at. Browsing the records before choosing bread and sitting down was oddly fun.

What does Chat Baker's Dubai chocolate salt bread taste like?

Look at that visual... chocolate coating with a tangy-sweet juice and a cold americano 🤤

I've been craving Dubai chocolate lately, and Chat Baker is famous for its salt bread, so I ordered the Dubai chocolate salt bread. The crunchy chocolate coating on the outside and the crispy kataifi (shredded phyllo) tucked inside gave it such a great texture 🤎 The buttery flavor typical of salt bread came through naturally too.

On top of that, the sweetness of the chocolate made it feel more like a dessert than a plain salt bread. That said, the chocolate flavor wasn't overpowering — the salty edge of the salt bread nicely balanced out the sweetness in the middle.

Fresh pineapple lemon juice at Chat Baker

The sweetness of pineapple combined with the brightness of lemon made this quite light and easy to drink overall. Especially after eating a sweet, chocolate-filled bread like the Dubai chocolate salt bread, a sip of this cleaned up the lingering sweetness refreshingly.

The iced americano at Chat Baker

It let the clean coffee flavor come through, so a sip after the sweet Dubai chocolate salt bread felt like a palate reset. Especially with chocolate-filled bread, the sweetness can build up the more you eat, so having the americano in between made the bread's flavor feel clean and fresh again! It reaffirmed that coffee really does pair well with sweet bread ☕

Who should visit Chat Baker in Anseong?

With its tasteful interior, a name that carries through from trumpeter Chet Baker, and even a vinyl record display, anyone who loves music will probably find these details fun to take in! This time I tried the Dubai chocolate salt bread, fresh pineapple lemon juice, and americano, and having the sweet bread alongside the tangy drink and coffee together made for a pretty good combination.

The Dubai chocolate salt bread in particular had a charm of its own, different from a regular salt bread, thanks to the sweetness of chocolate layered over the savory, salty flavor of the salt bread. If you're looking for a bakery café in Anseong, or want to enjoy bread and coffee in a slightly different kind of café atmosphere, this is a place worth stopping by once!!
