Daegu café with a peanut waffle after Hajungdo gimbap: Hands Coffee

In short

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a large café on floors 2 to 4 at Dongchon Resort in Dong-gu, Daegu. After an early-morning trip down from Seoul and a gimbap (seaweed rice roll) picnic on Hajungdo, an island in the Geumho River, the writer and a younger sibling ordered coffee, drinks and a 13,500 won peanut waffle at Hands Coffee, and the waffle was too big for two to finish. With roomy seating, a parking lot and a 4th-floor rooftop, Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch is a good place to rest during an autumn outing to Dongchon Resort.

A Dongchon Resort café after an early-morning trip from Seoul

It's autumn, so I stopped by Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch in Daegu~ I had come down from Seoul in the early morning, went to Hajungdo, the island in the Geumho River, and wanted a cup of coffee afterwards, so I dropped in here.

Dongchon Resort is a well-known spot in Daegu. The autumn leaves are gorgeous, and in summer you can ride a swan boat on the Geumho River. Mangu Park, Ayang Art Center, Ayang Bridge and the observation deck are all nearby, so it's a popular pick for things to do in Dong-gu, Daegu.

How was the peanut waffle at Hands Coffee?

The peanut waffle at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch comes out freshly made, nutty and crispy by turns, and the combination of whipped cream and peanut cream is so good. Okay~ let's enjoy some brunch. Above all, it was hot, so it was delicious.

A brunch spot in Dong-gu, Daegu, Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, you've all been, right? I've been here many times, and the view is so pretty. Dongchon Resort as autumn arrives is really lovely.

It's right where you can see First Master High School. A big café in Dong-gu, Daegu and a brunch favorite, it's a good place to order a waffle and coffee.

It opens at 9 a.m., so it's great for coffee~ it's spacious, and best of all there are quite a few really good brunch dishes.

Brunch menu and ordering area at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch

I was on my way back from eating gimbap (seaweed rice roll) on Hajungdo in the Geumho River, so I ordered coffee and drinks, plus one peanut waffle, because it feels wrong to come to Hands Coffee and not eat it.

How big is Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch?

Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch spans the 2nd to 4th floors, so it's roomy and nice for coffee. The 4th-floor rooftop is so pretty too, so if you go now, having your coffee on the rooftop is a good idea.

I was tired from driving down to Daegu on the early-morning road from Seoul, but one cup of coffee let me put that tiredness down. It's a big café for brunch in Dong-gu, Daegu, so even when lots of customers come in the seating is spacious, and the high ceilings give it a wonderfully open feel.

Friendly service: waffle and drinks served together

The waffle takes time to make, so I asked them to bring it out with the drinks, and they kindly served everything together. There's a Hands Coffee right in front of my place too, but the shop is small, so honestly that's a bit disappointing. The Dongchon Resort Branch has a big shop, a roomy parking lot, and brunch dishes that come on really big plates for the price. So if you go with a group, order drinks and coffee plus just one brunch dish, and you can still enjoy a really generous spread. I liked that.

Among the cafés at Dongchon Resort in Daegu, I think Hands Coffee may well be the biggest. The parking lot is big, and if you pick the 4th-floor rooftop, you can probably enjoy the best view right now.

Two hours of chatting without hearing the next table

We talked for nearly two hours, and it's so spacious that we couldn't hear the people next to us, which was great. I doubt there are many cafés at Dongchon Resort with a space this cozy and antique-feeling.

Above all, Dongchon Resort has so many restaurants, sights and cafés. Some people eat nearby and then come here, and others have a meal from the brunch menu here, so it's quite varied. My sister and I had eaten gimbap by the Geumho River, so rather than a brunch dish we ordered a waffle as a light snack.

Peanut waffle for ₩13,500: is it enough for two?

The peanut waffle at Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch cost ₩13,500, and the portion was so big that the two of us couldn't even finish it. Hands Coffee is a Daegu company, and you can think of it as Daegu's top coffee, as if Daegu were the home of coffee.

The staff are friendly and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors all have different moods, so for anyone visiting Daegu, I'd recommend Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch, the Dongchon Resort café.

With such a nice atmosphere, I think everything tasted even better. A big café in Dong-gu, Daegu~ a place you never get tired of, however many times you go. It was even better because my younger sister was with me on a day when the autumn mood was so lovely.
