Family dinner with kids: bossam and kalguksu set in Sindorim
In short
Sindorim Sambaekga is a bossam, jokbal, and handmade kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) restaurant on the first floor of the Sindorim Station Prugio Mall in Guro, Seoul. A family of four ordered the bossam+kalguksu set with extra bossam meat, plus a tasting portion of cold jokbal salad, persimmon-seasoned kimchi, Jeju radish kimchi, and self-serve barley rice. With several baby chairs on hand, it's an easy pick for eating out with kids.

A great kalguksu and bossam spot in Sindorim, perfect for going with kids.

Since it's located in the Sindorim Home Plus building, I stop by Sambaekga a lot whenever I'm grocery shopping or heading to Monster Park kids' café — it's become a regular favorite! Both adults and kids can eat happily here, so it's always a good-mood visit :)

Inside the restaurant, with baby chairs ready
The restaurant is overall clean and well-kept, which is the first thing you notice. It has a modern yet warm atmosphere, making for a comfortable meal :) The place isn't huge, but the tables aren't packed too close together, so it never feels cramped.
With several baby chairs on hand, it's great for family meals with kids, and since the menu is healthy and pleases just about everyone, it's also a solid pick for gatherings with elders or lunch and dinner with coworkers nearby.

What we ordered — bossam+kalguksu set with extra meat
Sambaekga's signature bossam (boiled pork wraps) is joined by jokbal (braised pig's feet) on another level, handmade kalguksu, sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), and other meal options. No wonder the place stays packed for both lunch and dinner.
After going back and forth between jokbal and bossam, we went with the bossam+kalguksu set so my husband could have the bossam he loves and I could have the kalguksu I love. Since we were eating with the kids, we added extra bossam meat to make sure there was plenty :)

Banchan and a taste of cold jokbal salad, persimmon kimchi
Once you sit down and order, the basic banchan (side dishes) come out along with a tasting portion of cold jokbal salad — the tangy-sweet, slightly spicy sauce really wakes up your appetite. Even as a free extra, the quality was genuinely excellent!
And the real highlight of this Sindorim kalguksu favorite has to be the kimchi! They serve a same-day-made persimmon-seasoned kimchi with ripe persimmon mixed in, plus Jeju radish kimchi aged 48 hours at low temperature — the gentle sweetness and crunchy texture were incredible. You could finish a whole bowl of rice on the kimchi alone :)

Bossam — kept on the burner so the last bite stays juicy
They said the pork comes from pigs raised on Sangju persimmons, and there was no gamey smell at all — the meat was so soft. They put it on a burner right on the table, so even the very last piece stayed warm and moist, which honestly touched me :)
Mixing and matching the different sauces to your taste is half the fun too. With the extra meat we added, the portion was massive. If you're really craving meat, I strongly recommend adding extra to your bossam!

Kalguksu — a full serving even as part of the set
The broth is simmered from 12 ingredients, and it's deep and clean-tasting, the kind that really clears out your system. The noodles are 100% domestic fresh noodles, so the texture is bouncy and chewy — outstanding. Wrapped up with the seasoned persimmon kimchi, it's the kind of bite that melts away a day's worth of fatigue!
Usually the kalguksu that comes with a set feels more like a side dish, but Sambaekga's bossam+kalguksu set gives you a full serving of noodles, which I loved. Eaten alongside the bossam, it was plenty for our family of four.

Barley rice at the self-serve station
If you order the kalguksu, you can head to the self-serve station and mix up barley rice with yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), gochujang (chili paste), and sesame oil. With soft bossam, chewy kalguksu, and nutty, springy barley rice all together, it made for the ultimate Sambaekga full course :)

Why we keep going back
They finished us off with orange juice and candy on the house :) The food is great, but I think the service and friendliness are a big part of why we keep coming back! It's a healthy yet delicious bossam spot in Sindorim, really ideal for eating out with kids. If you want proper bossam and deep-broth handmade kalguksu near Sindorim, I highly recommend Sambaekga!
