Friday night full house at Seoul Station gyukatsu restaurant Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese-style beef cutlet) restaurant in the basement of the LG Household & Health Care building near Exit 10 of Seoul Station on Line 4, in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a packed Friday evening the writer ordered the set with two gyukatsu meals plus a drink and added a side mini curry, grilling the beef with all the butter dropped in at once. The meat was tender with no chew to it, and next to the price of one serving at a Korean beef restaurant, Ichigyu made for good value.

Where is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch?
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu specialist tucked in the basement of the LG Household & Health Care building near Exit 10 of Seoul Station's Line 4. I went on a Friday evening to try the gyukatsu set and mini curry.

I visited Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, a popular date spot near Seoul Station. It's near Exit 10 of Seoul Station Line 4, in the basement of the LG Household & Health Care building. I went on a Friday evening and the place was completely packed — proof that even a basement spot can pull in a crowd when the food is this good.
Friday night wait and the mood inside Ichigyu

If you're waiting, you can reserve through Catch Table. We got lucky and were seated right as another party was finishing up.
There's a beef figurine right at the entrance haha — you can tell how serious they are about beef.

There were so many couples in the restaurant — definitely a solid Seoul Station date spot. The interior is clean and tidy, and the sound of gyukatsu sizzling all around made it feel like being on a trip.
Ichigyu Seoul Station menu and what the set includes
The menu centers on the signature gyukatsu, alongside steki set meals, hamburg omurice, and Japanese curry. Jumbo gyukatsu is ₩32,000. For two people, the set menu with a ₩3,000 discount is the better deal.

There's the signature gyukatsu, and going jumbo costs ₩32,000. After eating it, I think next time it's worth going jumbo. There's also an un-fried steki set meal, hamburg omurice, Japanese curry, steki-don, hotplate chop steak, and yakisoba napolitan, plus sides like karaage, fried shrimp, and mini curry. The curry here is delicious — highly recommend.

Flip the page and you'll find the set menus — if there are two of you, the set is the way to go, with a ₩3,000 discount. There are also instructions for how to eat gyukatsu the best way: add the butter in three stages, they say. It comes out medium-rare at first, and they recommend grilling it for about 7–8 seconds.

If you want the free napa mochi or fried shrimp that go so well with the meal, leave a receipt review — go for it.
What arrives with the gyukatsu set
The gyukatsu set at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch includes two gyukatsu meals plus a drink. The grill is heated first with solid fuel, and the rice comes in a shared bowl to scoop from together.

The gyukatsu set arrived. Two gyukatsu meals plus a drink included — amazing deal.

It already looks delicious, drool-worthy. I love gyukatsu already, so I can't even imagine how good Ichigyu's version is going to be.

The rice is served in a shared bowl for everyone to scoop from.

Let me walk you through what comes with the Ichigyu Seoul Station gyukatsu set.

There's cabbage pickle sprinkled with what seems like pepper, giving it a slightly spicy kick that pairs well with the gyukatsu, and Isigny butter that gets used later when grilling the meat.
Sauces include chili and salt, plus a separate sauce made for the gyukatsu itself. Even a light broth comes with the set.
Grilling the gyukatsu with all the butter at once
Ichigyu's gyukatsu comes out with a crispy coating and a pink center, and I grilled it on the brazier for about 10 seconds. They tell you to add the butter in three stages, but I wanted to eat quickly, so I just dumped it all in at once.

Beautifully fried and crispy on the outside, pink and marbled and glistening inside — the gyukatsu appeared and it genuinely looked amazing. They told me to add the butter in stages, but since I wanted to eat fast, I just threw it all in at once and grilled it haha.

They lined it up neatly on the grill. About 10 seconds of grilling to get that Maillard sear and the gyukatsu is done — total perfection.

Is the mini curry worth adding?
Ichigyu Seoul Station's mini curry was a great side to eat first while the gyukatsu was grilling. The curry was genuinely delicious, and it made me want to order a full curry dish next time.
While the gyukatsu was grilling, I couldn't resist and ordered the mini curry too — and the curry was genuinely delicious. Turns out this place is a curry spot too. Next time I'll order the full curry dish. If you're getting gyukatsu, definitely order the mini curry as well.

I ate it over rice, dipped it in sauce, enjoyed it every way. The meat had zero toughness — tender, full of beefy flavor, crispy, and just so delicious.

Is Ichigyu good value for the price?
At a regular Korean beef restaurant, you'd struggle to get one serving for this price, so considering that, the value here is excellent. If you want to enjoy beef done well, go visit Ichigyu's gyukatsu near Seoul Station.

The set came with zero-sugar cola and a cup of ice, so we could keep things cold and refreshing all the way to the end. That was my review of Ichigyu Seoul Station, a great Seoul Station restaurant!!!!
