Gwanghwamun study café with power outlets at 5pm: Center Coffee

It's hard to focus with a laptop at home, and cafés usually mean fighting over the few outlet seats, so I went looking for a Gwanghwamun café with plenty of outlets and no competition for them — and ended up at Center Coffee Gwanghwamun!

Both the coffee and non-coffee drinks are good, plus there are light, easy desserts! On weekdays it opens at 7:30am for office workers, so it's also a great stop before work.

Where is Center Coffee Gwanghwamun, and what are the hours and parking?

Center Coffee Gwanghwamun is at B1F, Unit 105, Seoul Finance Center, 136 Sejong-daero, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's open 07:30-21:00 on weekdays and 11:00-21:00 on weekends.

Center Coffee Gwanghwamun is in the basement of Seoul Finance Center, between Gwanghwamun Station and City Hall Station! It's inside the building, so it was a little tricky to find at first, but easy after that first visit haha.

Just keep going straight following the Center Coffee Gwanghwamun sign above and you'll get there! I was a bit nervous about the wait since it's a Blue Ribbon-listed spot, but we visited around 5pm on a weekday and got to order right away with no wait!!

There were quite a few customers, but the space is spacious enough that we could still pick our seats freely! Weekday lunch hour and mornings bring a lot of nearby office workers, so if you're going for laptop work, I'd recommend avoiding the lunch peak.

Menu and prices at Center Coffee Gwanghwamun

I heard the Greek yogurt is great too, but it was too cold out and I wanted something warm, so we ordered both drinks hot. The staff were also really kind when taking our order and let us take our time choosing, so ordering felt easy even on a first visit.

There's a wide dessert lineup too — matcha marble pound cake, plain butter bars, Earl Grey lemon tart, dark chocolate baton financier, fig baton financier, Matilda chocolate cake, Decaf pure milk cream cake, and even coffee gift sets!

With dutch coffee and drip bag gift sets, this place would be handy if you suddenly need a client gift or something light for a friend! The gift wrapping also looks pretty premium and clean, don't you think?

How many power outlets and laptop seats does Center Coffee Gwanghwamun have?

Center Coffee Gwanghwamun has lots of outlet seats and fairly generous spacing between tables, so it's great for laptop work. Seating is divided into solo spots and large communal tables.

After ordering, we got a buzzer and scouted for seats — overall it's spacious with plenty of seating. There's a nice mix of seat types, from solo-friendly spots to big shared tables.

The tables were roomy enough to fit a laptop and drink together without feeling cramped, and with so many outlet seats it was great for laptop work! No more wandering around Gwanghwamun Station hunting for a plug — I think I'll be coming back here haha. The seating was also spaced out enough to really focus on my own work!

How do the flat white and mugwort latte taste?

At Center Coffee Gwanghwamun we ordered a flat white for 5,500 won, a mugwort latte for 6,500 won, and a fig baton financier for 4,000 won. Since the financier is 4,000 won each and there were two of us, we got two.

A flat white has less milk than a latte, so you really taste the espresso's richness alongside the milk's nutty, smooth character — it's a menu I love. This is also known as a Gwanghwamun café for good coffee, so I ordered the flat white, and it really is delicious! Even sipping it slowly while working, it never got watery or bland.

For anyone who doesn't drink coffee, we also ordered a mugwort latte! The fragrant, nutty flavor unique to mugwort combines with the milk's smoothness to make it more sweet than bitter. I expected it to be a bit bitter, so the sweetness was a nice surprise — even kids would probably like this one!

Fig baton financier, 4,000 won

When you're working or studying, you tend to get a little hungry partway through, and since we're light eaters lol, going out for a full meal felt like too much — dessert would do the trick (though honestly, maybe it's less hunger and more a sugar crash? lol). It felt like a waste to order just drinks, so we picked the fig baton financier too.

Its long baton shape makes it easy to break off small pieces, and it's firm outside but moist inside! There's also a plain flavor and a chocolate flavor, but I love figs so I went with that one! Between the buttery richness you get little bursts of fig, so the texture never felt one-note. And being baton-shaped, it's easy to pick up and eat with one hand!

This is a spacious café with plenty of outlet seats, great for laptop work or studying, and a place where you can enjoy coffee, non-coffee drinks, and dessert all in one visit! The staff are friendly too, and it sits conveniently between Gwanghwamun Station and City Hall Station.
