Jeonpo café in Busan for peach ade and an espresso slush latte: Hippy

I recently spent 3 nights and 4 days traveling around Busan, hitting up all kinds of restaurants and cafés — and today I want to introduce a café that really stuck with me!

Café Hippy (힙피, HEAP.P) is a dessert spot on Busan's Jeonpo café street, absolutely full of atmosphere. It's become such a hot spot lately that the owner is even looking into opening franchise locations. Let me show you around.

Where is Hippy? Walking there from Jeonpo Station

Café Hippy is a straight walk up from Exit 4 of Jeonpo Station. It's on the well-known Jeonpo café street, so it wasn't hard to find at all.

Here's the exterior of Jeonpo café Hippy! I was in a good mood just walking in because it was so pretty haha. My boyfriend and I had literally said on the way up, "That café's exterior looks nice, I hope that's the one" — and it was!! Definitely the prettiest storefront on the whole street haha.

Inside Hippy: seating and a prop-shop mood

The moment I walked in, I was greeted by all these atmospheric little props. It's clearly a popular café — they had their own logo, and logo goods you could buy! Since it's also a well-known Jeonpo dessert spot for birthdays, there were plenty of birthday-related items too :)

Here's the inside of Jeonpo café Hippy! Since it's such a popular spot these days, we went pretty early to check it out for this post — but even then, there were already a few customers there. It's basically a large Jeonpo café, with tables of all different sizes, including ones big enough to seat a group! The furniture is mostly wood-toned with a few statement pieces mixed in, which definitely gives it that trendy, atmospheric café feel.

Even the smallest details — even the water station and the restroom — clearly had the owner's touch on them. Every corner was full of atmosphere, so it was genuinely fun just to wander around Hippy haha.

The counter sits up front and is fairly large! I feel like if you turned the lights off it would honestly feel like a bar. Every single light fixture felt carefully chosen! I heard the owner is thinking about franchising now — I can't even imagine how much hotter a café with this vibe would get if it opened in Seoul lol.

Hippy's menu: more than 10 kinds of cream pie

Here's the menu at Jeonpo café Hippy. There are coffee and non-coffee drinks, and we decided to try one of each. The owner said she's especially confident about the tea menu, so tea lovers will probably enjoy it too — and tea drinks even come with one free refill!

And here's Jeonpo café Hippy's signature item — cream pie, haha. They also sell madeleines and financiers. After some deliberation, since we were at a Jeonpo dessert spot known for cream pie, we decided we had to try one! There were seriously so many flavors — over 10 kinds — so we took it pretty seriously deciding haha.

What we ordered at Hippy and what it cost

After a long debate, here's what we landed on: lemon cake cream pie ₩7,500 / Hippy latte ₩6,500 / peach ade ₩6,500!

Lemon cake cream pie, 7,500 won

This is the lemon cake cream pie. It looked so pretty I took about a million photos lol. There's clearly a reason Jeonpo café Hippy is so popular — with the atmospheric café interior and gorgeous-looking desserts, the photos come out amazing every time?! I posted it on my Instagram story and everyone asked where it was — such a magnetic café lol.

True to a lemon dessert, it was zesty right from the aroma — the lemon content seemed pretty high. The white part looked like fresh cream and the yellow like lemon cream, and both were so light they didn't leave any greasy residue in the mouth, like it was made from dairy cream. The pie crust underneath had a nice flaky bite with a rich buttery aroma — I was happy the entire time I was eating it.

Peach ade, 6,500 won

This is the peach ade — highly recommended if you like refreshing drinks!! It was noticeably less sweet than store-bought peach syrup, to the point I'm sure it was house-made, and the peach flavor came through that much stronger. You could really bite into actual peach flesh, and the flavor was so rich and true to peach — I loved it so much.

Hippy latte, 6,500 won, with espresso slush inside

This is Jeonpo café Hippy's signature drink, the Hippy latte. Can you see the texture of the cream in the video on the right? A generously thick, bouncy cream is piled on top of the drink. It was such high-quality cream that you could eat it on its own without it feeling heavy at all — not overly sweet, with a rich, nutty milk flavor.

Inside was this slush — turns out it's a house-made espresso slush?! With iced lattes, once the ice melts it usually goes really watery and bland, right? That's actually why I usually ask for less ice with iced lattes. But this was clearly a solution to that exact problem. As it melted, instead of getting weaker, the flavor actually got stronger haha. This was a genuinely clever idea!! You could really see the owner's sense for detail here.

Why Hippy is worth adding to a Busan trip

We got a seat at a sunny table and moved over to retake some photos haha. Between the pretty visuals and delicious desserts, it really made me feel like coming to Busan was worth it. I'd definitely recommend Jeonpo café Hippy to anyone visiting Busan. There are barely any places doing cream pie even in Seoul — it's such a unique dessert that it's worth the trip from far away.

I heard the owner is currently considering franchise opportunities, so if you've been thinking about opening a café, this might be worth inquiring about. Especially since there are almost no cream pie shops in Seoul — if one opened there, I'd visit without a doubt! Hippy was even selected as a promising unique dessert business in Busan for 2025, so it's bound to get even more popular. For me, it's a café I'd 100% revisit if I ever come back to Busan.
