Seocho gimbap restaurant with takeout crispy chicken: Halls

Introducing a restaurant I’ve visited for the nth time⭐️ On my way home after work on a weekday evening, the weather was so nice that I looked up at the sky—and it was seriously gorgeous between the street trees.

These are my footsteps heading straight to my favorite gimbap place in the whole world: Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점).

What is the atmosphere like at Halls Gimbap near Gyodae Station?

This place is near Exit 1 of Gyodae Station, and I think I’ve been here about four times. Every time, I literally clap like a seal. If it isn’t good, I’ll refund you. I’m staking my YouTuber life on it (????). For real.

When you walk inside, there’s this cozy window seat. The vibe makes it easy to come alone and have a meal, too.

The Halls Gimbap and crispy chicken combo

Halls Gimbap, egg gimbap, and crispy sweet-and-spicy chicken🎉 The chicken is even made with Korean refrigerated chicken thigh meat, so it is seriously insanely good—and honestly, this chicken is top tier ㅠ Anyway, this is truly their popular-menu combo.

They also sell tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and look at the ingredient origins. All Korean-grown..⭐️

Actually, this place used to have a different name, but it recently changed to Halls Gimbap. I read the notice posted in the store, and there was a reason for it.

They had run the original place for six years and apparently moved for those reasons. They say the name has changed but the taste is the same, so I’m going to keep coming here with a supportive heart. I took another close look at the menu, too. The Halls Gimbap and wasabi gimbap set really caught my eye.

It’s the same menu board, but I photographed it once more. It looks like lots of people order two kinds of gimbap, too. While waiting, I checked out the cup-noodle display beside me. There were so many varieties that it was fun just to look at.

This time, I decided to take out just gimbap and crispy chicken, then waited quietly at my seat. The Baemin delivery-order sound kept going off nonstop, so yep, I fully acknowledge this is a wildly popular spot.

I even took a quick selfie while I waited. The moment I got home, I opened the boxes right away. The “Warning: Extremely delicious” line on the chicken box was seriously not a lie.

Crispy chicken that stayed crunchy after takeout

I’m seriously putting my YouTube honor on the line here: the crispy chicken is ridiculously good. It’s true. Even after taking it home, the crunch was totally still there. The owner fries it fresh every time, so even when it cools down, it doesn’t get soggy—it keeps that extra-crunchy texture. Not merely crispy, extra crunchy!

Time for a close-up of the gimbap cross-section. I cut one roll and looked inside, and the egg and carrot were so prettily colorful. Can you see how generously it is filled?

I spread out the two boxes full of gimbap and crispy chicken all at once. Just looking at this spread had me drooling already.

I held up just the crispy chicken and took one more photo. See that glossy shine? This is seriously my lifetime favorite crispy chicken. Picking this up for a Han River date would be so, so nice ㅜㅜㅜ

No, it’s just too delicious ㅜㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It tastes moving, so anyone reading this post, go there right now. Finally, I cooked cup noodles too and set out gimbap and crispy chicken together for a full meal. This combo was the perfect dinner.

A place I want to keep supporting

Both owners are always so kind, and it’s the kind of place that warms my heart every time I visit. They went through a difficult period, but seeing them greet customers with smiles makes me root for them without even realizing it. (Owners, I really hope you thrive!)
