What kind of pork belly restaurant is Donnamu Jip in Daeyeon-dong?
Donnamu Jip is a Jirisan pork belly restaurant on Yongso-ro 7beon-gil in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan, sitting right in the busy strip near Kyungsung University·Pukyong National University Station. It's open 17:00–23:00.
Everyone loves meat, right? There can't be anyone who doesn't like meat!!? I like pretty much any kind of meat haha. Today I'm introducing a place near Kyungsung·Pukyong University Station that's supposedly the real deal, old-school pork belly, so I went to check it out!!! Here it is~~~~~~!!! Donnamu Jip, a Jirisan pork belly restaurant in Daeyeon-dong, Busan^^ Even from the outside it really has that 'good restaurant' feel, doesn't it?

It's located in the busy area near Kyungsung University, and among the various menu items, Jirisan pork belly seems to be the signature dish. It has an outdoor-dining feel, and now that the weather's cooling down, sitting by the window would be nice too. We were seated further inside and ate there!!

One plate of Jirisan pork belly, plus a half plate extra
Donnamu Jip's pork belly is amazing for the price!! We had one plate and then added a half plate more.
One plate looks like a lot here, so I'd recommend ordering it first, trying it, then adding more if needed. We're pretty big eaters..^^ so one plate wasn't going to cut it haha. We added a half plate and ate very happily.

The meat had a light pink color, and maybe because it's Jirisan pork, the pork belly tasted wonderfully chewy. No gamey smell at all, just delicious!! Donnamu Jip uses Jirisan pork along with domestic rice and kimchi. These days it's really rare to find a place using domestic ingredients, so I could eat comfortably knowing they use honest ingredients~~~ The grilled kimchi is a revolution. Whether it's the sourness or what, it was so good that I ended up ordering another half plate of meat to go with it, ugh.
Where is Donnamu Jip, and where can you park?
Donnamu Jip is a 2-minute walk from the subway station, so public transit is by far the easiest way to get there, since there's no proper dedicated parking. We used a nearby paid parking lot instead, which charged ₩1,500 for 30 minutes and ₩3,000 for 60 minutes.
There's so much to eat in the area, which is great. Since it's a university neighborhood, it'd be a good spot for drinks or meeting up with friends. It's only a 2-minute walk from the subway station, so you'll find it quickly! Transit around here is pretty convenient overall, so I'd recommend taking the subway. We drove and there wasn't anywhere obvious to park, so we used a nearby paid lot. It charged ₩1,500 for 30 minutes / ₩3,000 for 60 minutes~ just so you know.

Just scoop up whatever you need and take it to your table.

Inside Donnamu Jip: the mood of the room
The inside of Donnamu Jip has a relaxed atmosphere. It feels like the kind of place where all the day's fatigue would melt away after work with friends over drinks... the interior definitely helps with that too! It's set up for comfortable eating, so it feels like a warm, familiar spot you'd never get tired of. The staff were also super kind, which I really appreciated^^

Not sure why the photo quality is off here..^^ I guess I was too busy enjoying the food to pay attention to my camera... Anyway, you grill mushrooms, potatoes, and kimchi like this~~~

Pork belly wrapped in bangaip (Korean mint leaf)
They give you mint leaves (bangajip), and when you wrap the meat in them, that mint aroma just bursts up~~~~ combined with the really spicy green chili this time and the chewy texture of the pork belly, it's honestly indescribable haha. You really have to try this. The texture is amazing. At this price, it felt like eating Jeju black pork.

We were eating pretty early and the part-time staff kept bringing things over for us haha.

According to Naver reviews, it used to come with mint leaf doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), but apparently they've switched it to bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) now!! Honestly, I enjoyed it even more this way. It wasn't too spicy or too sweet, and it went really well alongside the meat.
If you're looking for a great-value pork belly place to go to without breaking the bank after work, I highly recommend this spot. The meat was so good I'll definitely be back, ugh. That's it for Donnamu Jip, the Jirisan pork belly place I definitely recommend in Daeyeon-dong.
