Whenever I go out to Gapyeong for a trip or a drive, I end up looking for a good restaurant! This time, I was craving dakgalbi (Korean spicy stir-fried chicken) cooked over charcoal, so I visited Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi.

Exterior of Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi

The exterior looked like a new building! Maybe because of that, the interior was clean and really spacious too.

🚗 There was plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy too!

Parking area directly in front of the restaurant

What I liked most when I came inside was the generous space between the tables. Restaurants with tables packed tightly together can feel uncomfortable because you are so close to the next table, but Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi had comparatively plenty of room, so the meal felt less cramped!

It looked good for families too, and there were high chairs inside, so I think it would be easy for people dining with children!

Lunch-special makguksu set information

The lunch special is a ₩15,000 makguksu set, with bibim or mul makguksu plus boiled pork. We ordered two portions of half-and-half dakgalbi and one bibim makguksu, haha. Choosing a flavor for charcoal-grilled dakgalbi can be difficult, so I loved being able to order half-and-half and try both flavors at once 👍

While we waited for our order, the side dishes began arriving one by one. There was dressed garlic chives, seasoned deodeok root, perilla leaves in sauce, stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried eggplant, and dressed acorn jelly—such a variety. I was happy that there were so many sides that went well with dakgalbi! I do not usually like eggplant, but my boyfriend tried it and said the stir-fried eggplant here was good, so I gave it a try—and it really was delicious 😊❤️

Finally, our main dish—two portions of half-and-half dakgalbi—arrived! Dakgalbi is just so fun to grill over charcoal! Cutting the chicken into bite-size pieces as it turned golden let us enjoy it warm throughout the meal 👍

More than anything, I liked that ordering half-and-half meant we could enjoy several flavors rather than just one! If you are torn over which dakgalbi flavor to order, I recommend choosing the half-and-half option.

The owner told us that wrapping dakgalbi with perilla leaves and seasoned deodeok root would be delicious, so I tried it—and it really was 😊 And wrapping it in the lettuce that came with it was insanely delicious too..!

The dakgalbi and bibim makguksu combination

When you eat dakgalbi, you naturally start craving something tangy, and makguksu is such a good match at times like this, haha. We had bites of dakgalbi with the noodles and alternated with the side dishes for a delicious meal!

Personally, when I go to a dakgalbi restaurant, I tend to add something like makguksu instead of eating only meat, and once again I was glad we ordered it together that day 👍❤️

Overall, the restaurant was comfortable, the owner was kind, and the menu was varied, so if you are searching for a place to eat after looking up restaurants near Gapyeong IC, I think it is worth a visit!
