Suwon study café with fig cake: Jo Hui-tak Coffee

A café near Ajou University that's great for studying and get-togethers

Have you heard of Jo Hui-tak Coffee, a Suwon dessert hotspot near Ajou University?! Apparently, it is already trending among Ajou University students. It is great for studying and gatherings, and the desserts are delicious too, so it is also known as a Suwon dessert café. I am someone who cannot live without dessert either... so I went to check it out, haha.

Inside: great for study sessions and gatherings

The interior has individual seats for studying alone, as well as large tables that work well for all kinds of group meetups. Lots of students were having study sessions or gatherings when I visited. Maybe because of that, it was not overly noisy and had such a nice atmosphere.

Along with study sessions, there are four-person tables too, so it felt like a great place to drop by for a casual get-together.

A wide range of desserts, from sando to cake and salt bread

Jo Hui-tak Coffee has an owner with a baking certification who makes the baked goods in-house. Maybe that is why there were so many kinds of desserts. There were lots of sando (Japanese-style fruit or cream sandwiches), as well as seasonal fruit cakes! There were so many things I wanted that it was hard to pick just one. I love seasonal fruit cakes, so that is what I chose, but there were also lots of Basque cheesecakes that I was very curious about.

Beyond sando and cakes, there are all kinds of desserts, including sausage pizza bread, financiers, and salt bread, so you can choose whatever suits your taste. With such a variety of cakes, I could see why it is famous as a dessert spot around Suwon Gwanggyo. On my next visit, I definitely want to try the cheesecake and a sando.

They are also running a review event: write a Naver review and receive a chocolate-chip cookie, so do not miss it. It is an in-house cookie too, so I am looking forward to that one as well!

Drink menu and takeout discount

There is a wide range of drinks too. Along with coffee, they have lattes, teas, and pretty much every drink you could want. Jo Hui-tak Coffee also gives ₩1,000 off for takeout. Is this not a café with absolutely no reason not to visit? There are so many nice deals going on for university students, which must be great for them.

Seasonal fig yogurt whipped-cream cake

I picked the fig cake, since figs are in season right now. How could I not try a seasonal fruit? It was generously loaded with fruit on top, and sliced fruit was tucked inside too, so it felt like such a great-value cake.

The figs were juicy and sweet, just as you would expect in season, and the cream was so delicious too. We had gone after a meal, but my friend and I still finished it all. If you visit around autumn, I highly, highly recommend trying this fig cake!!

An Americano refill with one drink ordered per person

Let me introduce one more perk unique to Jo Hui-tak Coffee. If each person orders one drink, you can get one Americano refill. Since it is near a university, is this kind of useful deal not just the best?! I think students would really love it.

Jo Hui-tak Coffee had a lovely atmosphere and delicious desserts. I personally really love lattes, and the latte here was nutty and delicious too, so it is definitely a café I want to revisit.
