Taiwan night market date spot in Seongsu: set for two at Bao Seoul
In short
Bao Seoul Seongsu is a Taiwanese night-market-themed restaurant at the end of Yeonmujang-gil in Seongdong, Seoul. Its signature set for two brings classic bao, Taiwanese beef noodle soup and braised pork rice bowl with a drink, so two people can try all three house dishes at once, and the spices and suan cai (pickled mustard greens) give them a distinctly foreign kick. Bao Seoul Seongsu is worth booking for a Seongsu date or a friends' get-together when the usual restaurants feel too familiar.

More Taiwan than Taiwan itself — a hip Seongsu spot with Taiwanese night market vibes, complete with beef noodle soup, bao buns, and rice bowls! The exotic smells, flavors, and atmosphere are all on point — a real Seongsu hotspot. I went to a Seongsu date restaurant that felt like I'd suddenly taken a trip abroad.
What is Bao Seoul Seongsu? Taiwanese night market mood on Yeonmujang-gil
Bao Seoul sits at the very end of Yeonmujang-gil, with a modest exterior you could easily walk right past. Look closer, though, and the Taiwanese vibe is dripping off it — Bao Seoul, a Taiwanese-flavored restaurant in the heart of Seongsu.

I came here right after a Taiwan trip, and honestly, the Taiwanese atmosphere here is so intense it hit me hard — a really memorable meal. Ever since, Bao Seoul has been on my go-to list whenever I'm in Seongsu.

"JUST BITE BAO" — bao is a Taiwanese-style sandwich, somewhere between a dumpling and a burger, a charming Taiwanese take on the burger. Bao, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, braised pork rice bowl, Taiwanese sausage, and mango beer — Bao Seoul Seongsu is a hip Seongsu hotspot where you can enjoy it all!

Inside Bao Seoul Seongsu: interior and seating
Inside, Bao Seoul Seongsu feels like a modest eatery near a Taiwanese market. Somehow it's very Seongsu and very Taiwan at once — and the interior leans even more Taiwanese than the outside suggests. The colors and worn, lived-in feel all channel that Taiwanese night market energy. It's exciting enough to make you feel like you've suddenly landed in Taiwan.

Bao Seoul's signature view — seats lined up like you'd find eating at a market stall, with the kitchen open for all to see.

🟩🟥⬛️ The color combination alone gives off an exotic mood.

They also sell Taiwanese mango beer!

Chopsticks and spoons stuck casually into glass cups add to the Taiwanese night market feel, and there are two 4-person tables too. I saw groups of nearby office workers coming in together for meals.

They say Bao Seoul was created around a Taiwanese night market concept by a chef trained in the US, aiming to bring a brand not found in Korea — food that's both approachable and distinctive.

Bao Seoul Seongsu menu: what comes in the signature set for two
At Bao Seoul Seongsu, I highly recommend the signature 2-person set with classic bao, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, braised pork rice bowl, and a drink! Taiwanese offal noodles, cold peanut noodles, ji pai, boiled dumplings, Taiwanese sausage — every authentic dish you'd find on Taiwan's streets and night markets is here!
Signature 2-person set
The signature 2-person set is what I always order at Bao Seoul! You get to try all three signature dishes, so there's no need to overthink the order. It's incredibly photogenic too — a certified Instagram-worthy Seongsu hotspot!

Taiwanese beef noodle soup
Beef noodle soup is basically a national dish in Taiwan — the kind of thing you could eat once a day and enjoy every time — and here it is in Seongsu! Bao Seoul's version has a rich beef broth simmered carefully for hours, paired with tender beef shank and chewy, plump noodles.
Big chunks of beef shank piled on top, and slightly plump noodles — that's the signature of this beef noodle soup!

The look, the taste, the aroma — it faithfully recreates that exotic Taiwanese flavor, maybe even more Taiwanese than Taiwan itself. I love spice and this kind of Chinese-style soup dish, and this was such a genuine beef noodle soup, unlike anything else I've tasted here.

Loaded with chili oil, spices, and vegetables — this could be a love-it-or-hate-it kind of dish! It reminded me of sitting in a random local restaurant on a busy Taiwan street, casually eating alongside locals — that same thrilling, new taste.
Classic bao
The classic bao is a Taiwanese-style sandwich packed with braised pork, topped generously with chopped green onion and peanut powder. The bun has a steamed-bun-like texture — a cute Taiwanese-style dish.

It's fairly large and stuffed full, so it drips a bit even when you eat it with both hands, haha. Suan cai, a Taiwanese pickled-vegetable ingredient, gives it a distinctive, exotic edge — and I genuinely loved it! This is what a real Seongsu restaurant should be, this is real Taiwan.

Braised pork rice bowl
The braised pork rice bowl is a Taiwanese-style rice dish combining braised pork, Taiwanese-style greens, a special sauce, and various vegetables. The balance between noodles, sandwich, and this hearty rice dish worked really well together.
Mix it all up with your chopsticks,

The braised pork tastes a bit like Korean jangjorim, soft and moist — really delicious once mixed in. The spice level isn't overpowering, and the salty-sweet aftertaste is such an interesting, exotic taste of Taiwan. I genuinely clapped like a seal while inhaling this bowl. Living such a busy everyday life, I felt like it's really time for a trip somewhere. T.T
