Yeouido clam hot pot lunch after hotel checkout: Gaetbeol-ui Jogae
In short
Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch is a clam hot pot and seafood restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Geukdong VIP Building near National Assembly Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. After checking out of a Yeouido hotel just 30 seconds away on foot, two people ordered the giant clam hot pot (small) for 59,000 won with the clear broth and finished it along with unlimited barley rice and a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) add-in. The clear clam broth with cheongyang chili tasted sharp and refreshing, so Gaetbeol-ui Jogae works well as a Yeouido lunch for anyone who loves a good broth.

As someone from out of town who spent a night at a Yeouido hotel, I was wondering where to eat after checkout, and I found Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido branch just 30 seconds from the hotel — and honestly, we ate so well for lunch.
Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch is close to National Assembly Station, so if you're looking for restaurants near National Assembly Station, this one is worth keeping an eye on — my mouth is watering just thinking about it ~

How to find Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido, 30 seconds on foot from the hotel
This is the Kobos Hotel where we stayed for a night. Gaetbeol-ui Jogae is right across from it. If you happen to be staying at Kobos Hotel too, this should be handy.

Oho ~ walking with excitement at the thought of eating clams ~ Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch is on the 2nd floor of the building.

What the inside of Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido looks like

The interior of Gaetbeol-ui Jogae, which I found as a Yeouido restaurant, was very spacious and clean. There are room-style spaces as well as an open hall, so it would be great for group dinners too if you're looking for a spot near National Assembly Station. Since there are a lot of office workers around Yeouido and National Assembly Station, it seems good for both lunch and company dinners.
Unlimited barley rice at the self-serve corner

We ordered the giant clam hot pot small size for 59,000 won and had the self-serve barley rice while waiting. Barley rice with yeolmu (young radish greens) and fresh kimchi is genuinely delicious.

Nom nom nom, so good while waiting.
Giant clam hot pot (small), 59,000 won: is it enough for two?

We ordered the giant clam hot pot for two for lunch, haha, and we actually finished it all. The pot size is no joke though.

The owner checks the timing for the clams to cook, so we waited patiently. When opening the lid, hot steam comes out, so you should never open it yourself ~ the owner opens the lid for you, revealing crab, octopus, squid, scallop, and fish cake — the pot was packed with seafood.

Clear broth or red broth? We chose the refreshing clear broth
We ordered the refreshing clear broth. There's a spicy red broth option and a refreshing clear broth option. We liked the clean clam flavor, so we went white broth ~ it's genuinely refreshing. The owner cut up the squid and scallop for us with scissors ~

This is the white broth, but with cheongyang chili in it, it's quite spicy. The broth drawn out from the clams is truly excellent.

There's melted cheese, so dipping the clam meat in the cheese makes it incredibly savory. The cheese stretches so satisfyingly.

We wondered if the two of us could finish it, but picking off clams one by one, haha, it disappeared fast. Deciding what to eat for lunch near the Yeouido hotel was our biggest worry, and this was definitely the right choice. The mussels were fresh too, and the clams were so fresh their meat was packed full.

It's delicious. Since the clams are fresh and tasty, you just keep eating them, haha, it's magic. As a Yeouido restaurant, this is somewhere I'd want to come back to next time I'm in Yeouido. Next time, I might try the boiling. I want to try every menu item, but since we had the clam hot pot this time, my husband and I promised to try the boiling next time. I wonder how good that will be ~ haha.
Finishing the hot pot with a kalguksu noodle add-in

We ordered the noodle side dish — we'd already had barley rice and were full, but it felt like we'd regret it if we didn't add kalguksu noodles to the refreshing clam broth, so we ordered it even if we might not finish it.

We ended up eating the kalguksu too and were genuinely stuffed. I'd highly recommend this as a restaurant near National Assembly Station. After a delicious lunch at Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch, we walked over to the nearby National Assembly Library.
A post-lunch walk to the National Assembly Library in Yeouido

We even walked all the way to the National Assembly Library — if you visit Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch, make sure to walk over there too. Lunch was quite a lot of food, haha, but that refreshing, spicy broth flavor after a while will keep being loved by broth lovers like us from now through winter ~ Gaetbeol-ui Jogae was a satisfying Yeouido restaurant find.
