Mullae clam kalguksu restaurant with a private room at dinner: Palmi
In short
Palmi Jogae Kalguksu Mullae is a Korean restaurant near Mullae Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, where clam shabu-shabu is followed by kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and then porridge. Arriving at 8pm on a weekday, every table was full, so Palmi seated us in a private room, and we ordered the spicy-broth clam shabu-kalguksu dinner for two at 18,900 won plus a crispy seafood and scallion fritter at 9,900 won, which arrived loaded with mussels, scallops, hard clams, abalone and two kinds of meat. A filling, hearty stop in Mullae whenever a hot soup dish sounds good.

What comes on the clam shabu tray
It was way bigger and more generous than I expected, honestly shocked…👀 Broth in the center, two kinds of meat, mussels, scallops, clams, abalone, bok choy, mushrooms, bean sprouts — a really full spread 🥩 🥬 🍄🟫🦪

Palmi Clam Kalguksu lives up to its name — clams really are the star — and just visually there were so many of them that I could tell the broth was going to be properly rich 🐚 Anyone who loves clams will especially love this setup! Loaded with clams and so satisfying!🐚🐚🐚💗

Boiling the clams first
First, we put the clams in and let them boil down fully〰️ The clams were fresh, and the meat inside wasn't small or skimpy at all — plump and satisfying to pick through one by one.

Toss the shells, pick out the meat, and simmer it with the vegetables〰️
The clams are tasty on their own, but they went even better with the kalguksu broth! The umami from the clams kept the broth from tasting flat — the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for another spoonful…
And then the meat too…🥩💗

How the spicy broth and kalguksu noodles tasted
We started by fishing out the clams first, then once we'd had our fill, we added the noodles for the real kalguksu moment! The broth was seriously refreshing 🍜 Broth is everything with kalguksu, and thanks to the clams it felt clean and light overall. Rather than a heavy, intense broth, it had a subtle umami from the clams that made it easy to eat without feeling heavy. A hot spoonful of broth followed by noodles warmed me right up!
The noodles had that signature kalguksu chewy-yet-soft texture that paired well with the broth, and they'd soaked up so much flavor that they weren't bland even eaten alone. I like letting the noodles simmer longer in the broth so they really absorb the flavor, and eating it that way here made it even tastier. Pop a clam on top, grab a bite of noodle, and eat them together — great combo 👍🏻 The portion was also hearty enough to recommend as a full meal.

Finishing with porridge and the seafood scallion fritter
We wrapped up with porridge… At first, since we were focused on the clams, it didn't seem like that much food, but between the noodles and then the rice, I ended up really full…(about to burst)

We also ordered the crispy seafood pancake as a side, and it was such a crunchy, delicious pancake. Such a great match with everything else! Definitely order it

Welcome drink — wine slush 💗 it had a nice little kick
