Gangseo Seoul restaurant for a weekday reservation date: Gungmin
In short
Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch is a nakgopsae (octopus, tripe, and shrimp hot pot) restaurant in Gangseo, Seoul, five minutes on foot from Exit 6 of Balsan Station, across from Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital. Visiting as a couple on a weekday evening after a 6:30pm Naver reservation, the writer ordered the beef tripe nakgopsae for 32,900 won plus a bowl of rice, cooking it smoke-free on the tabletop induction burner. A medium portion of Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch was plenty for two, and with a big screen on-site, it works equally well for a date or a group dinner.

Today I went to Gungmin Nakgopsae. My boyfriend and I are always stuck on what to eat on dates, but you really can't go wrong with something spicy and savory, right? And it has to have protein in it for us. That's how nakgopsae (spicy octopus, tripe, and shrimp hot pot) caught our eye. It's right on the main road so I'd passed by it so many times, but I only just went — spoiler alert: this place is seriously delicious haha.
Location and parking for Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch near Balsan Station
Gungmin Nakgopsae Gangseo Branch sits across from Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital near Balsan Station! It's close enough to the station to walk easily, and there's plenty of parking too, so you don't have to stress about where to park.
- On foot: 5 minutes from Balsan Station Exit 6
- Parking: lot available behind the building; if full, double-park and leave your contact number
We made a Naver reservation and went on a weekday at 6:30, and we were the first customers in at that time — but the place filled up almost completely right after. If you're planning to eat here, I'd recommend booking through Naver first!
Interior and seating
Here's the storefront! The interior is clean and pleasant with comfortable seating, and there were a variety of seating options ready.

Watching sports on the big screen
The standout feature here is definitely the big screen! You can watch soccer or baseball in high definition while you eat. Apparently during the World Cup, the owner opened earlier than usual so everyone could watch the match together, haha. Sounds like the owner is really into sports.

There are actually a lot of places with big screens around Magok-Balsan, but honestly some of them are a bit chaotic — uncomfortable seats (like plastic chairs), or so-so food that gets by purely on atmosphere. But at Gungmin Nakgopsae you can have a proper, satisfying meal and still enjoy watching the screen. Loved that combo!

Tabletop induction burners mean no smoky smell on your clothes
The second highlight, besides the comfy seating, is that there's zero acrid smoke. Usually with these dishes boiling away on a gas burner, that spicy smell clings to everything. But here the tables have built-in induction burners, so there's no gas smell and the air stays fresh. Great bonus: you don't walk out smelling like the meal!

Good for groups and company dinners too?
Having been there myself, this place is perfect for everything from small get-togethers to big group gatherings. You can push tables together for a group, so office workers in Magok-Balsan, take note! Highly recommend it as a company dinner spot in Balsan. If you come here, I bet you'll be satisfied. I'm planning to bring my own team next time haha.

Chopsticks, napkins, and wet wipes are right next to the table!

The lineup of drinks just looking at it is refreshing, plus they've got a draft beer machine~~~~!

Separate men's and women's restrooms, and clean ones at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Full marks for both interior and cleanliness ..... b
Receipt review and Naver reservation events

Gungmin Nakgopsae is currently running a Naver receipt review event and a Naver reservation coupon event. Since you're eating here anyway, why not book through Naver, join the receipt review event, and pick up some extra perks?
Menu board and our order
Alongside the main dish nakgopsae, there's tripe hot pot, spicy chicken and tripe stew, and drinking snacks like broth-simmered chicken feet and stir-fried cartilage! The lineup covers everything from a full meal to bar food — I was sad I'd driven and couldn't drink ㅠ.ㅠ Anyway, here's what we ordered!
- Beef tripe nakgopsae ₩32,900
- Rice ₩1,000
- Zero-sugar cola ₩2,000
Side dishes and seaweed soup

Here are the basic side dishes! You can't have nakgopsae without perilla leaves, pickled radish, and mayo!!!!!!! Plus white kimchi and cubed radish kimchi to cleanse the palate.

They also serve seaweed soup on the side, and whoa... turns out this place is secretly great at seaweed soup too haha. Nice way to warm up your stomach before the spice hits.
Trying the beef tripe nakgopsae

It came out just 5-7 minutes after ordering! Nice fast service, which I appreciated because I was starving ^_^

How is it arranged so neatly and beautifully? They say a dish that looks good tastes good too, and the ingredients looked so fresh. Beef tripe, octopus, shrimp, rice cakes, glass noodles, scallions and onion, plus the secret seasoning sauce! Just looking at it made me drool.

How to eat nakgopsae the right way
There was even a guide on how to enjoy nakgopsae properly!
- Stir evenly so the glass noodles don't burn
- Once the onion turns translucent and the rice cakes are cooked, boil for 2-3 minutes on setting 5
- Lower to setting 2 to keep it warm while eating
- Add fried rice ingredients to the leftover sauce and stir-fry on setting 5
- Eat with perilla leaves and mayo

You control the induction temperature with the arrow buttons next to the table! Since it wasn't too busy when we visited, the owner actually came by and stirred it for us at the right times!!! Everyone, make sure to stir evenly so the glass noodles don't stick.

The nakgopsae slowly cooking! The spicy, tangy aroma mixed with onion and scallion was killing me while we waited ㅠ

The size of the octopus, tripe, and shrimp
Honestly, the real strength of Gungmin Nakgopsae is the ingredients. I've never seen such a hearty portion of nakgopsae ....... and I'm not exaggerating, the octopus pieces were about the size of my boyfriend's finger haha. Top-grade Korean beef tripe, premium-grade octopus, and plump, sizable shrimp — with ingredients this fresh, it's basically impossible for it not to taste good.

And the broth is simmered hard with their secret sauce, so the sweetness of the scallion and onion melds with the refreshing seafood and tripe flavors — the soup itself was deep and rich too.

I don't handle spicy food well, but this was so deliciously spicy it was stress-relieving. Piling fluffy, well-cooked rice with the nakgopsae, vegetables, and broth on top, I polished off a whole bowl in no time ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Genuinely so good.

I think the perilla leaf + pickled radish + mayo combo is truly unbeatable with nakgopsae!!!!!! The wrap and mayo balance out the addictive spiciness, so you just keep eating without stopping.

The whole time we were eating, delivery orders kept pouring in nonstop. Seems like this place is already famous for delivery around Gangseo-gu. We scraped our plate clean, brows furrowed in that 'this is the truth' kind of way ............ officially recognizing this as a Balsan must-eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
