Daechi-dong izakaya with 20,000-won sake corkage: Momiji Seolleung
In short
Momiji Seolleung Branch is an all-private-room izakaya on the 3rd floor of Hoseong Building in the Daechi-dong dining alley near Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Corkage is a flat 20,000 won per bottle for any type of alcohol, so we brought sake and paired it with seasonal mixed sashimi (small, 55,000 won), maguro yukhoe (tuna tartare, 29,000 won) and clam sake-steam (26,000 won), served with an ice basket, a tokkuri decanter and proper sake glasses. For a private room with genuinely good food alongside your own bottle, Momiji Seolleung Branch is the answer.

I found a great spot near Seolleung Station for a private drink! This is Momiji Seolleung Branch, where I brought my own sake for corkage. From the side-dish quality to the room atmosphere, it was exactly my type, so I had to write it up right away :)

Where is Momiji Seolleung Branch, and what are its hours?
Momiji Seolleung Branch is in the dining alley near Seolleung Station, on the 3rd floor of Hoseong Building in Daechi-dong. There's a big sign, so I found it right away! Hours are weekdays 11:30 to 1am, and Saturdays 17:00 to 01:00. It's closed on Sundays, so keep that in mind before visiting.

All private rooms: good for team dinners and group gatherings
Head up to the 3rd floor and you'll find clean, tidy private rooms! Because they're fully enclosed spaces, you don't have to worry about noise from other tables, making conversation really comfortable. I'd recommend it for company dinners or group gatherings.
Corkage at Momiji: 20,000 won per bottle, any drink
I'd heard Momiji Seolleung Branch was known for its side dishes, so I brought sake that would pair well with sashimi for corkage. Regardless of the type of alcohol, you just pay 20,000 won per bottle and can drink whatever you bring as much as you like. That's reasonable even among Daechi-dong izakayas.

When I asked, they set up an ice basket, a sake decanter (tokkuri), and dedicated glasses so nicely — I was really touched ~ 🥰

The three complimentary starters
After ordering, three basic side dishes come out. It's a set of edamame (green soybeans), white kimchi, and gungchae jangajji (pickled aster stem) — served neatly on a tray, so it really felt like being taken care of! Perfect for finishing a beer before the main dishes arrive.

What we ordered at Momiji Seolleung Branch
Seasonal mixed sashimi (small), 55,000 won
The ultimate visual showstopper appeared: seasonal mixed sashimi! With the dry ice effect and fresh flower decoration, I grabbed my camera the moment it hit the table.

It's a solid spread of tuna, flounder, salmon, abalone, sweet shrimp, and even savory ankimo (monkfish liver)!
It was well-aged, so it was chewy yet melted right in my mouth ㅠㅠ 💖 I could see why Momiji Seolleung Branch is so popular as a side-dish specialist among Daechi-dong izakayas.
The steamed abalone was also super tender ~ I felt like it'd be worth coming just for the sashimi alone.

The portion of ankimo was quite generous too. I'd worried the small size of the seasonal mixed sashimi might not be enough, but it definitely was.

Maguro yukhoe (tuna tartare), 29,000 won
This is the dish I'd recommend most at Momiji, a Daechi-dong izakaya. Fresh tuna flesh topped with an egg yolk — mix it all up and eat it with radish sprouts and wasabi, and it's absolute heaven... the freshness and seasoning were both top notch!
Dip it in the mayo sauce and the special soy sauce that come with the maguro yukhoe, and the savoriness and umami explode — even eaten plain, it just keeps the drinks coming.

Clam sake-steam, 26,000 won
You can't skip a soup dish, so I ordered the clam sake-steam! Unlike the usual sake-steam with just a little broth, this one had a generous amount of soup like clam soup, and I liked that even more! Packed with scallops and clams, the broth is really spicy and refreshing. With rich butter flavor added on top, it felt like it settled my stomach.
Is Momiji Seolleung Branch worth it?
A Daechi-dong bar where I could enjoy top-quality side dishes with whatever alcohol I wanted to bring, in a private room — 200% satisfaction. If you're looking for a nice-atmosphere room izakaya or a side-dish specialist near Seolleung Station in Daechi-dong, give Momiji Seolleung Branch a visit!
