Songpa Korean BBQ with 15-min weekend wait: Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a beef gopchang (grilled beef intestines), daechang, and makchang specialty restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul. Arriving just before 6pm on a weekend evening, the writer wrote their name on the window waitlist, waited about 15 minutes, ordered one portion each of gopchang, daechang, and makchang, and had the owner grill everything tableside with a timer. With minari-pickle garlic sauce and three kinds of house-made kimchi, this is a solid pick if you're after beef gopchang in Bangi-dong.

I went to the Bangi-dong food alley for the first time in a while recently, and I was craving beef gopchang (grilled beef intestines), so I visited Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, the most famous beef gopchang spot in Bangi-dong!

How does the weekend evening wait work?
I went just before 6pm on a weekend evening and there was already a wait..! There's a spot on the window where you write your name on the waitlist, so I signed up and waited about 15 minutes! There's no separate waitlist kiosk — they call your name out front, so you have to wait right there.

It's been featured on several TV shows, and last year it was even introduced as the #2 among Seoul's top 3 beef gopchang spots!! No wonder there's a wait.
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang menu and prices

- ★ First order must be 2 portions or more ★
- Hanwoo gopchang (domestic Korean beef) 220g ₩19,000
- Hanwoo daechang (domestic Korean beef) 220g ₩19,000
- Hanwoo makchang (domestic Korean beef) 220g ₩20,000
- Dessert - Kkakdugi fried rice ₩9,000
- Dessert - Anchovy noodle soup ₩6,000
There's no combo platter — just gopchang, daechang, and makchang! I liked that the first order starts at 2 portions but after that you can order just one portion per item! I've been to places where you have to order 2 portions of each menu item..ㅠㅠ For dessert there's kkakdugi fried rice and anchovy noodle soup.
Side dishes and minari-pickle garlic sauce

The killer feature of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is the 'minari-pickle garlic sauce' — 'mi-jeol-ma' sauce for short!! They say it's delicious dipped with the gopchang, all the vegetables (cabbage, potato, mung bean sprouts, rice cake), and the kimchi!!!

There's also a chive salad to go with it!! Delicious grilled together with the gopchang.

They even gave us a little note like this, and the owner was so kind and clearly took pride in the food!!

They also gave us three kinds of house-made kimchi 'brothers' — scallion kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, and baby radish kimchi. Maybe because they're all house-made, the flavor wasn't harsh at all, genuinely tasty — perfect to eat alongside the gopchang.
One portion each of beef gopchang, daechang, and makchang

We ordered one portion each of hanwoo daechang, makchang, and gopchang, and it came out pre-seared haha. The portions are generous too.

They gave us a timer and came over to grill it themselves once it went off. At first I think they set it for 5 minutes, then 3 minutes, then 3 minutes again!

They also gave us complimentary steamed egg, which is absolutely perfect as a drinking snack...! Salty and delicious.
It's not easy to grill gopchang well, so having them grill it for us directly made it easier and even tastier haha.
I really love daechang, and can you see how plump it is?ㅠㅠ It was hard to wait for it to finish cooking.

Thick potatoes usually take a while to cook, but since these were sliced, they cooked quickly, which was nice.

Dipping it right into the minari-pickle garlic sauce — since it's a slightly spicy sauce, it cut through the richness of the gopchang really well. You could also taste the fragrance of the minari, but not so much that it overpowered the gopchang's own flavor — a well-balanced combination!!

The gopchang wasn't chewy at all and was genuinely delicious...😭

I'm a daechang person and this place's daechang is the real deal.. So thick, and totally crispy outside, juicy inside...🥹

It was there and then it was gone‼️ It was so delicious we finished it all in a flash..haha
Final thoughts
If you're looking for a great beef gopchang spot in Bangi-dong, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is the real deal...The gopchang is genuinely delicious and the special sauce is insane!! A certified must-visit in the Bangi-dong food alley😋
