Jeju Jocheon noodle restaurant with sterilized baby dishes: Myeonjumak

One dish I always end up eating on Jeju trips with my kid is gogi-guksu (pork noodle soup) — it's mild and light, so it's easy to share with a little one, which means we end up ordering it more often than not.

This time we visited "Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch," and it had all the little things you need when eating out with a kid so thoughtfully set up that we left satisfied and completely at ease.

The first thing that won me over the moment we arrived was the huge parking lot...!

In Jeju most people get around by rental car, so parking is always something I check for, and here the lot was really spacious, making it easy to visit with a car. Once inside, the dining room turned out to be roomy too.

There were plenty of tables set up and the whole space felt uncrowded, which made it comfortable to visit with a child — and it's also good for families or larger groups, since group reservations are possible too.

Since we were in Jeju, gogi-guksu was non-negotiable. We ordered four things total: gogi-guksu (₩11,000), gogi-bibim-guksu (₩10,000), abalone porridge (₩15,000), and a free baby noodle bowl.

We ordered the warm gogi-guksu together with the mixed noodles, and also got abalone porridge so the baby could eat too.

How do the gogi-guksu and gogi-bibim-guksu taste, and how spicy are they?

The gogi-guksu came with warm broth and chewy, mild pork, making for a hearty, filling meal,

and the bibim-guksu (mixed noodles) had a different charm entirely. It wasn't intensely spicy or sharp — more of a pleasantly spicy kick. I usually like spicy food so it wasn't a problem for me at all, but if you're not great with spice, it might feel a bit more spicy than expected.

Baby noodles are free for children under 36 months

Ordering the abalone porridge alongside gave us something to alternate with the noodles, and being able to taste several dishes at once made for a really filling meal. The thing that made me happiest visiting with a baby was that baby noodles are free for children under 36 months. My little one still qualifies by age, so we ordered the baby noodles, and I loved that they came with absolutely no toppings.

The baby noodle portion was fairly generous too, so even babies with a big appetite should be fine.

Beyond the free baby noodles, the things you need when visiting with a child were prepared with real care.

There was a baby chair so we could seat her comfortably, and baby dishes kept separate from the regular tableware in a sterilizer, ready to grab and use. Not just a spoon and fork but even scissors and tongs — it really hit me that this is a restaurant that's good to visit with a baby. And on top of that, there was even a phone stand ready to use at the table.

When you're eating with a kid, there are moments before or after the meal when you end up showing them a video on your phone or tablet, right? For those moments, it was really convenient to use.

Seeing the basics like the baby chair and dishes covered, plus these small extra touches, I noticed a lot of thoughtful details throughout. After the meal, there was even a self-serve coffee machine for dessert.

For adults who consider coffee after a meal essential, that's another nice point.
