Hi everyone! Today I'm introducing Cham Dwaejitgan, an aged pork belly restaurant right by Jongno3-ga station! It's famous as a Jongno3-ga pork belly spot, so when I visited on a weekday evening there was a wait — but it was totally worth it!

There's a variety of pork cuts, of course, but also sides like jjigae (stew), naengmyeon (cold noodles), and fried rice, so you can eat according to your taste~😋

Three portions for two: black pork belly, thin belly and pork jowl

That day at Cham Dwaejitgan Jongno Main Branch, we ordered one black pork belly, one thin pork belly, one pork jowl, and one fried rice.

The default sides were kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, and minari (water celery) 🌿 — kimchi and bean sprouts can be refilled at the self-service bar! There were also various sauces to eat with the meat. Personally, the salt was the star... it was delicious even just dipped plain.

The pork belly and black pork belly we ordered first came out. Staff grill everything for you, so you don't have to worry about a thing~

And the key point of Cham Dwaejitgan in Jongno3-ga was wrapping the meat in thin potato slices — such a treat!

No difference between the black pork belly and regular pork belly, both were delicious — the fat was savory, the meat was juicy, and it was great even just dipped in salt. The minari was fragrant too haha. Like the description said, the combo of grilled potato + pork belly + minari + pickles was also really tasty..👍

Since there were two of us, we had to order 3 servings' worth(?), so we added pork jowl. Need I say more — it was springy, just fatty enough, and really delicious.

We simply ordered one bottle of beer, but they thoughtfully brought milk thistle along with it haha.

Finishing the meal with fried rice

We left a bit of pork jowl to stir-fry together with the fried rice! The fried rice itself wasn't heavily seasoned, so it was actually nice and mild haha. If it's a bit bland for you, adding ssamjang would work well too!

This is exactly why we saved a bit of pork jowl..haha. Personally, every pork menu item was delicious, but the plain pork belly itself was good enough that I felt like I could just order that alone next time. That's how good the meat is here!
