Korean set meal with a baby near Daemyeong Station, Daegu: Cafe Dongi

Today we visited Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch with our baby, a Daemyeong-dong restaurant famous for its delicious Korean set meals haha. Cafe Dongi is well known for Korean food, but this was my first time at the Daemyeong Station branch — and I was so satisfied, here's the review 😆🩵

How to get to Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch, and where to park

Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch is a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 of Daemyeong Station on Line 1 haha. It's located in the alley right behind the Anjirang Post Office building!

We drove over, and although there's no dedicated parking lot, you can fit about 2 cars in front of the restaurant, and it wasn't hard to find a spot in the nearby alleys either haha.

Inside Cafe Dongi: cafe-like seating and baby-friendly amenities

I was so surprised the first time I walked into Cafe Dongi, this Daemyeong-dong Korean food spot! Instead of your typical Korean restaurant feel, the modern, tidy cafe-style interior really stood out 🫢

This isn't Cafe Dongi, this is just a gorgeous cafe lol 🥹 It felt totally different from every other Cafe Dongi I've been to haha. Great for couples, friends, and families, and there were also seats good for eating solo 👍🏻 The tables were spaced out generously and the chairs were super soft — everything was so comfortable!

This big table in the middle especially seems to amplify the cafe vibe haha. With the floor-to-ceiling windows, it felt bright yet warm at the same time — I loved it!

I'm someone who really cares about cleanliness, so I loved that there was a separate sink right at the entrance for washing your hands. Coming in with a baby, it was so satisfying to be able to wash up properly both entering and before leaving 👍🏻

They had everything — baby chair, toothpicks, hair ties, wet wipes, aprons haha. Honestly the interior and amenities get a perfect score, 100 points 💯❤️

Cafe Dongi menu prices and what the free unlimited service bar holds

This Daemyeong-dong restaurant, Cafe Dongi, has a great variety of budget-friendly Korean set meals and full-table menus!

They regularly roll out new menus using seasonal vegetables, and maybe because it's summer, three kinds of yeolmu (young radish) bibimbap sets were being offered at a discounted price! The Dongi nuruk-aged sirloin tangsuyuk is also a popular item haha.

There were three of us, and here's what we ordered!

Just looking at the menu, the value is already amazing, but Cafe Dongi's biggest perk is the unlimited free service bar 😆 Fried eggs, five-grain rice, barley gangjeong, roasted seaweed, hutgae tea, all free!!! The fried eggs especially are seriously incredible,,,

The fried-egg station had two induction burners, along with an oil spray so you could coat the pan cleanly with cooking oil, and as in the photo above, there was a hole in the middle where you could conveniently toss trash like eggshells. Cafe Dongi always has these thoughtful little details for guests 🥹

We also brought back a fair amount of hutgae tea, five-grain rice, roasted seaweed, and barley gangjeong haha.

What comes with the 9,900-won Dongi grilled pork bulgogi set

Soon after, the food came out 😆 Looking back now, this was before the tangsuyuk arrived, which is why something felt missing,,, anyway, the Korean set meal came out beautifully arranged as a full table spread haha. If you're looking for a Daemyeong-dong restaurant that serves Korean sets neatly like this, this is the place! Good for bringing elders along too, comfortably 👍🏻

The grilled pork bulgogi set I ordered 🐷 Can you believe this is 9,900 won — plus unlimited fried eggs,,, is the owner even making money on this ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

The sweet, salty, smoky-charred pork bulgogi went so well with the cabbage! Truly rice-thief material haha. My husband hid burdock root inside the meat to try to sneak it into me since I'm a picky eater, and I ate it without realizing — so annoyed ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The tuna and yeolmu bibimbap set my husband ordered, since he's been obsessed with tuna lately! 🍚 The vegetables were so fresh, and the crisp, refreshing yeolmu radish greens paired perfectly with it haha.

The tofu doenjang stew set 🍚 Cafe Dongi's doenjang stew is seriously so savory, rich and delicious ㅠㅠㅠ And what completes this doenjang stew set is the fried egg haha. Paired with the unlimited fried eggs, it tastes even more amazing 😆

Is the signature nuruk-aged sirloin tangsuyuk worth adding?

Cafe Dongi's signature nuruk-aged tangsuyuk, which didn't make it into the group photo above 🐷

Apparently the batter is made using dough naturally fermented for 72 hours with traditional rice nuruk (fermentation starter), gluten-free, adding a healthier flavor!

Each piece was huge, so we neatly cut it up with the tongs and scissors provided haha. They also gave us lots of dipping options — lemon sauce, soy sauce, wasabi, whole grain mustard, salt — so we got to try a variety of flavors 🫢

Who knew tangsuyuk could be a rice thief too lol ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It was so crispy and nutty, and the meat itself was delicious too haha. Personally, the lemon sauce was my number one pick 🥇

We ate every last bite haaaah hehehe

What stood out most about eating at Cafe Dongi with a baby
