Hanam Misa nurungjitang: maesaengi vs basic two-bowl test, O Hyeongje

In short

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a scorched-rice soup (nurungjitang) restaurant in a standalone building on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Two bowls were ordered side by side — maesaengi (fine green seaweed) nurungjitang and the basic nurungjitang — and while the seafood fillings in both are identical, the maesaengi bowl won on briny sea flavor and a richer broth. With room for about ten cars right in front, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is worth a return trip for a family meal in fall or winter.

When the weather turns cool and you're craving warm soup, nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) is such a good pick! This time I visited O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch in Hanam Misa.

It's a hot dish packed with seafood and scorched rice, so it seemed like a great choice for a family meal or eating out with parents. Today I'll mainly introduce the maesaengi nurungjitang and the basic nurungjitang I tried!

*Parking: about ten spots available right in front of the restaurant

The restaurant is located near Misa-daero in Hanam. It's a standalone building, so it's easy to spot even from a distance. Best of all, there's parking right in front of the store, which made it really convenient to visit by car!!

What is the restaurant like inside?

Walking in, the place was spacious and clean, even had a modern feel to it haha. The tables were spaced comfortably apart too, so I never felt cramped while eating — overall a clean, relaxed atmosphere that seemed great for visiting with family 😍

Menu lineup and what was ordered

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang sells several types of nurungjitang along with cooked dishes, so it seemed like a good spot to mix and match soup with a side dish.

  • Maesaengi nurungjitang
  • Basic nurungjitang

There were quite a lot of side dishes too, but honestly the nurungjitang was so good I barely touched them haha. It's not in the photo, but there's a self-serve bar where you can refill side dishes yourself~ There was also orange prepared for dessert 🍊

How does the maesaengi nurungjitang taste?

Here comes the maesaengi nurungjitang!! This was my number one pick — maybe because of the maesaengi (green laver), it had a bit more of a briny sea flavor than the basic version, and the broth was rich, smooth, and just so delicious..

The portion was really generous too, so if you come here with elders or family, you really can't go wrong! And the scorched rice got nuttier the more you chewed it, staying perfectly crisp all the way through — genuinely delicious.

Maesaengi vs basic: is there any difference in the fillings?

The fillings were exactly the same whether you got the maesaengi or the basic version. Adding abalone is only ₩2,000, so if you love abalone, I'd definitely recommend adding it! There was a good variety of seafood, none of it chewy — all cooked really well and tender ~😭

How was the basic nurungjitang?

You can see the basic nurungjitang portion was huge too ㅠㅠ. They seem to mix the broth and scorched rice together right before serving so it doesn't get soggy, because the rice stayed crispy right to the end, and overall the broth flavor is just the kind everyone, young and old, likes!

One bite in and I felt healthier already, so warm and comforting — I can already tell I'll keep thinking about it all fall and winter!! I ate so, so happily!!💕 I really want to come back here with my parents, grandmother, or relatives after checking out Misa Jogyeong Rowing Stadium or Starfield this fall or winter haha. I was that satisfied, so I've already bookmarked it on Naver Map 🫶🏻

Final verdict on O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang in Hanam Misa
