Hanam seafood restaurant for spicy cod stew for two: Jigueseo On
In short
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a webfoot octopus (jjukkumi) and seafood restaurant on Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. A dinner reservation with a friend turned into spicy cod stew (eolkeun daegutang) for two after the jjukkumi sold out, served with hot pot rice, scorched rice and a neat set of side dishes. The cod, packed with tender fish and milt, made the stew a filling meal and a good reason to order beyond the restaurant's namesake jjukkumi.

I was looking for a good spot around Hanam to have dinner with a friend, and that's how I ended up at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi. My friend prefers seafood over meat, so after searching for a good jjukkumi restaurant in Hanam, I made a reservation ahead of time.

The original plan was jjukkumi, but we ended up eating something totally unexpected that day. Still, we walked away satisfied after a hearty meal of hot spicy codfish stew and hot pot rice.

I drove there, and since there was space right in front of the store, parking wasn't a hassle at all. There are some cafés nearby too, so it looked like a good spot for a coffee afterward.
What the café-like interior and seating are like

We visited a bit past the usual dinner rush, so the restaurant was fairly quiet. Even from outside it had more of a stylish vibe than your typical Korean restaurant, and stepping inside confirmed that impression even more. White-toned floors with brick accents and warm lighting gave it more of a café feel than what you'd expect from a Hanam hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant.

The tables had generous spacing and there were booth seats too, making it a comfortable spot to chat with a friend over dinner. Each table also had an ordering kiosk, so checking the menu and placing orders was easy.
Jjukkumi sold out: switching to East Sea spicy cod stew for two
Honestly, the whole point of coming was to eat jjukkumi. Since this was the jjukkumi restaurant in Hanam I'd sought out, I naturally went to order it, only to be told the ingredients were all sold out. It was a bit disappointing, but since my friend and I both love seafood, we switched our order to spicy dagutang for two.
A little while later, the spicy dagutang arrived in a large pot, and it looked plentiful from the first glance. Along with the codfish, there was a generous amount of vegetables like water dropwort and enoki mushrooms, plus big chunks of fish meat visible — just looking at it made the refreshing broth seem promising.
The side dishes that came with the cod stew

Before the main dish arrived, the side dishes were set out first, and the lineup was clean and simple. Kimchi, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), salad, and other light sides were neatly arranged — a spread that anyone looking for Hanam hanjeongsik would appreciate.

Rather than a flashy spread with too many dishes, it focused on sides that paired well with the main dish, which I appreciated even more. Especially with the warm broth and hot pot rice together, dinner felt quite complete and hearty.
Hot pot rice and scorched rice, served hot

Personally, what I liked most was that the rice came as hot pot rice! Lifting the lid revealed glossy rice topped with sweet pumpkin, beans, and what looked like chestnuts — it looked really appetizing.
After scooping out the rice first and pouring water into the pot, you get to enjoy warm scorched rice by the time you finish the meal. Alternating a spoonful of the spicy dagutang with a spoonful of warm hot pot rice was a really great combination.
How did the cod and milt taste?
As the broth started boiling, the vegetable aroma and codfish flavor naturally spread through the soup and grew richer over time.

It was spicy without being overly heavy or harsh, which made it great to eat with rice — the kind of soup you crave on a cold day. The codfish meat was large and came off the bone easily, so my friend and I kept fishing pieces out. As shown in the photo, there was a generous amount of milt too, soft rather than dry, and my friend really enjoyed it.
We picked nearly all the meat off the codfish, so by the end only the bones were left in the bowl. I originally came to this jjukkumi restaurant in Hanam to eat jjukkumi, but that day I ended up discovering the charm of a different dish entirely thanks to the spicy dagutang.
Han River ramyeon for a receipt review, plus ice cream for dessert

Looking around the restaurant, there was one more sign that caught my eye. If you write a receipt review, they have a ramyeon cooker and ramyeon set up so you can make Han River-style ramyeon. We were already too full to try it ourselves, but it seemed like a fun service for when you want to eat a bit more.

There was also ice cream prepared after the meal, so we got to enjoy dessert too. It's oddly hard to find restaurants these days that also offer dessert, so it was nice to end the meal on a sweet note. Chatting away with my friend, the time flew by.
Missing out on the jjukkumi was a little disappointing, but after the spicy dagutang, hot pot rice, and neat side dishes, it turned into a satisfying meal anyway.

If you enjoy a neat, Hanam hanjeongsik-style meal or are looking for seafood dishes, this is a place worth checking out. Next time I go back, I want to make sure to arrive before the ingredients run out so I can finally try the jjukkumi I missed this time. If you're searching for a jjukkumi restaurant in Hanam that also offers a variety of seafood dishes like jjukkumi and dagutang, Jigueseo On Jjukkumi is worth remembering.
